Post by: stokiedazza on May 19, 2016, 11:00:25 pm
I've my new abarth waiting for its Yamaha bits to come and I'm just wondering can we have the new stereo with the flat screen display fitted to it?

Everyone doubt's it as the air ducting behind the dash takes a large amount of space.

The new stereo will not fit in your dash due to the change in vent position and also its larger. I have a friend who works at Fiat Liverpool and he let me try a new radio without success. I went for this instead and can say its a superb swop. Bought it from Icebox for £320. Fitting took an hr and its compatable with Blue and Me.

The radio arrived and all was going well till I stripped out the old unit. It was then that I realised they had sent the wrong colour. They sent the cream one by mistake. I will keep you updated as to when the replacement comes.

You still need to chop the vents internally with the above and use a plastic divider if I am not mistaken though?

My friend has the same stereo in his car and there is no cutting of the vents or pipes. He simple unscrewed the existing vent and changed over the rear section of it to the new vent. Took only a couple of minutes to do this. The vent cutting you mention is only if you install a double din unit. This unit is the same size as the original so its a straight swop.
