Noisy steering issue: What is it?

One more of those little annoying niggles.

The car is stationary engine is running. Turning the steering to left or right makes a noise like and old dry door hinge.  :'Fluidliud level is just under max and no sign of leaks.
No warning lights.

Back to the garage next Monday. Not happy at all.  :thumbd:

    Mine made a noise like broken clockworks (weird metallic ticking\clicking) at the beginning of the year that was cured by the stalk pod being replaced

    Not sure what fluid level your checking  ??? its all electric  ;D

    Likely to be a dry joint on the column have a look under the dash from the footwell IIRC you can see some of the column?

    Might be worth spraying some lube on there, I use a ptfe spray or muc-off bike spray is good as it leaves no nasty smells  ;)

    The Grande Punto is well known for steering motor failure (Google it and you'll see). Not sure the 500 has the same components but you may be suffering that. One of our Grande Puntos has just started having the symptoms you describe   :-[

    No column motor and re-calibration soon.... >:(

    I know this is an old thread but mine has just started to make this noise, how much did this cost to repair?
