Odd noise on downshift
« on: January 10, 2019, 08:08:43 am »
Hi all long time lurker

I have an 09 plate 135, with 35k on the clock recently its developed an odd noise, will try my best to explain

I can change gears fine, but say i'm in 4th, push the clutch down and change to 3rd when I release the clutch as it gets to the biting point it makes a sound like metal skimming or a high pitched "Ohhhh"

The sound depends on how high the revs are (I try not to be to high revs when I change down)
And after the car has warmed up it tends to stop
Was really bad for awhile when the car hadn't been used
Only does it on downshift and so far only in 3rd
If I keep the revs high and keep dipping the clutch on and off I can get it to do it at each "biting" point for a while eventually stops

Anyone think the clutch plate is worn and needs replacing?
