Any idea if the rear seat folds?

    Hi Chaps

Firstly, I'd like to introduce myself. I've just joined the forum today having just paid my deposit with John for the 500 Abarth.
Chumleys photos that he gives the website to I've just looked at. When the photos are small the car does indeed look grey (and lovely in that colour) but when you click on the photos to enlarge them, I think the car is actually white but that the room the car was shot in is giving a false impression. The reason I say this is if you look at the photo of the car John has provided, there is a car behind it in the grey colour that the car is available in and it is very much battleship grey. Far darker than the shade in Chumleys photos.

What's the view on leather? Is it worth the extra money or should I go with the standard fabric seats and get the sunroof instead?

Hi James, welcome. The car behind in my photo is a mock up in the abarth factory with various parts cut away to show the upgrades from the Fiat 500. That one is indeed in primer grey. I'm of the same impression though, I think the one in chumleys photos is in funk white, but I could be wrong.
JK, who told you it would be £15000?

The Abarth dealer Westover told me this afternoon.

That's about what I make it, too.

    These are all assumptions, some based on the GPA, but £13,500 + £250 (climate) + £850 (leather) + £500 (wheels) = £15,100.

This is just rampant speculation on my part, so please don't quote me.

No disrespect to Westover, but I think they are just guessing by working on 500 prices.
Working with £13500 for the car,
    £850 for Leather,
£120 for the stripes and mirrors,
    £250 for climate
    £150 for the wheels.
Total £14850. I have been working with this theory for a while for customers, the only problems are:
1, The exchange rate is in the toilet at the moment.
2, We dont know whether the wheels will be £150 or £500
3, The leather option may be a bit more expensive for the Abarth than the 500.
I dont think we will have to wait too much longer for official prices though.

John the pic you've posted is from the Geneva show in March (I was there and admired the 500A from the Maserati stand across the way in the pic before crossing over to see it) and the car was finished in Funk white not 1949 white. It is admittedly hard to tell from the pic, granted.

Also John, was told if I don't go for one of these I will actually have to wait till February to spec my own, surely this can't be right?

No, that isn't right. Ordering is due to open possibly next week. Once it does, you can spec the car as you want it. From ordering to delivery should be between 12-14 weeks. The only problem is that if you miss the early ordering you may have to wait a long ,long time to get your car.

I think you'll find the car in the pics is grey: I agree its very bright compared to some of the other pics but the shade difference between the panels and the wheels is too great, and also compared to the Abarth logo on the wall. Also note how the red on the chequered roof is that much darker. The lights in our styling studio at Jaguar can also perform great feats regarding colours and shades.

Nice spec, its exactly what I'd go for if I were ordering one now, so the fact that was the only spec on offer right at launch wouldn't bother me.

One thing I have decided though, when I buy one I'm buying one from John. I don't care how far away he is from me he's given the straightest and most honest answers of any Abarth dealers so far, and he rightly deserves some sales.

Thanks Andy, It never hurts to tell the truth in a trade that is associated with blokes in trilby hats abd sheepskins. ;D
The motor trade will never shake that image as long as it remains largely unregulated.

Thats the thing, in a way it feels a bit daft to say thanks for giving such clear and honest posts from the trade, but as you say, the buying public expect (and often get) the very opposite.

I have a friend at BMW and like yourself (in as much as I can tell from your posts) is very good at what he does by being passionate but also clear, honest, accurate and personable.  The Fiat dealer we had our Panda 100HP was very good in that regard, and its a shame they aren't an Abarth dealer as we'd have surely gone back.
