Intercooler / charge pipe Help
« on: June 25, 2021, 09:38:17 am »
Good morning everyone, hope you’re all well.

I am after a little advice regarding the wife’s Abarth 500.

I had to change the lower arm yesterday for the MOT and when I removed the side intercooler pipes to gain access to the crash bar bolts, a small amount of water came out. A drip came out of the drivers side pipe but approx. two tablespoons (give or take) came out of the passenger side pipe. Should there be water in these pipes? I’m not convinced it’s coolant as the coolant is pink but this appeared to be clear. Whilst fitting the new arm, I also noticed a small drip from under the car but I can’t seem to find where it’s coming from. Any thoughts or advice would be amazing and a heads up that if there are any common issues. It doesn’t appear to be losing any coolant (I will monitor).

Thanks in advance
Matt

It may have got some water in through the intake but I would expect the filter to have caught it. Water drips under the car can be from the air con. Just thinking aloud. Hasn't got a super boy racer loud induction system of some type has it?

    Morning jl-c
    Thanks for the reply,

The car has been sat for at least six months while we moved house and got sorted so I'm thinking would it have accumulated some condensation with the sporadic weather we've been having recently?

I will check the air filter, no super boy racer loud induction system just the esseesse BMC upgrade filter.

The drip I don't think it's the air con as it's been sat, I'm hoping it's just rain water accumulated somewhere and where I've jacked it up to do the arm, I've disturbed it.

Thanks again for your thoughts  :thumb:
