Side stripe delemma
« on: March 15, 2010, 12:54:23 pm »
Something has always bugged me about the side stripes since we picked the car
Up from Autoworld on the 1ST of  March.
The car was plain white when we bought it, and we went for the factory decals down
the side, bonnet scorpion plus red mirrors.
The mirrors are a maroon red colour and in line with what I have seen on other Abarths, but side stripes and scorpion are a much brighter red , doesn’t look right to me.
This became even more obvious when we went on a meet this weekend and ours were different, we have been told that they are not proper factory Abarth decals, but a copy, oh and the scorpion decal has started to come off already.
Thanks guys at the yorkhire meet yesterday for pointing this out, I wanted a few more opinions before I went all guns blazing to Autoworld.
As far as i am concered , I paid for the factory extra £165 for stripes and red mirrors (that match in colour) plus £70 FOR THE PEELING scorpion.
What do I do guys. & gals.
I have my guns half cocked, ooh err.

Mmmmm...Autoworld tried to fob me off with a non-genuine roof decal a while back. Bit out of order that you were charged for Official factory stripes and they decided to fit imitation decals for probably half the price  :thumbd: Is the bonnet decal a copy as well?? I was recently only charged £40 at Bauer Milletts for the Official Scorpion decal after my copy peeled off  :-[

yep scorpion is not a factory item, apparently you can tell this by looking at the
edges of the scorpion they should be rounded and not pointed, eg, its pincers should have
    a round end.

I can't believe people are charging that much for the bonnet Decal & the side stripes.

You would think i would get the right ones for that sort of money
    woudn't you.
Upset me that has, as i now look like i am going to have to fall out with autoworld over it.

This is awful! If I were you, I would definitely take it back and demand the real deal.

Thanks for bringing this up - I am having a side stripe replaced this Wednesday as my original started peeling when the car was washed. Before they even attempt to replace it, I will be checking it is the official part and matches with the rest of my decals.

Best of luck getting this sorted. My peeling side stripe is covered under warranty so your scorpion should also be

Yeah agreed this is very cheeky! I hope they have stopped doing this now...

As said ask for the real ones to be applied.

If you look at Scud's pic from Duxford they are a reasonable match. Certainly in the image I have of my car in my head the mirrors, stripes and wheel rings are of similar shades of red.

Would it not be worth reporting such an appalling garage to the Abarth mother ship and getting them shut down for what is essentially fraud (paying for something that they are not actually supplying)?

    Hi Kev,

You saw on mine yesterday that the stripes and the mirrors should have a closer match. If it says factory decals or part numbers on any of your documentation, they do not have a leg to stand on.

Sounds like fraud to me. If it's true, Autoworld should be hauled over the coals by Abarth UK for this. Let us know the results  >:(

Guys and we be a little careful  throwing the F word around, there may be reasons as to why the car has the stripes it has, like it was a plain car factory order that was changed when it got to the dealership etc...

The car was plain white when we bought it,

Buying the stickers as an aftermarket part is much, much more expensive than a factory option just like the wheels.
