Hi, the word SPORT is usually displayed on the dash (just within the speedo ring).

The shift up light does usually go mental (mine does anyway) if you drive in normal mode and tells you to shift up less often when driving in sport mode.

    Hope this helps.

The word 'SPORT' will lit up on the separate turbo boost gauge when engaged. :thumb:

There is no sport light in the middle of the boost gauge on a series 1, only the shift arrow.  Sport is indicated on the display in the middle of the speedo ring as Cherrygarcia mentioned.  It's in the middle above the clock as pictured here https://c2.staticflickr.com/4/3631/3335792677_563863738b_z.jpg?zz=1

The button itself doesn't illuminate on any of the series 1, 3 or 4 cars I've owned.  I do miss the big flashing arrow, although I do get how some people find it annoying, especially in normal mode.

Shift light operates in two ways.  In normal mode, it will tell you when to shift up based on economy and the current driving style.  If your driving Miss Daisy it will indicate at a lower RPM than if your trying hoon around.  It will give you a few flashes and then shut up if you don't shift...unless you take your foot off.  The moment you take your foot off it will stop flashing because it thinks you might be changing gear and then resets itself.  So technically if your around the point where it thinks you should change and you go on off on off on off the throttle it will flash a lot.

In sport mode, its much easier.  It only flashes around the red line from what I recall.

I must admit it does not take much to confuse me

I get no 'Sport' lit up on the dash but in the boost gauge whereas yours does.

I'm guessing you don't have a series 1.  My one is in the boost gauge like yours but I've had one of each ('59 Esseesse, '65 180 Comp, '69 Esseesse)

    Series 1.
Sport light is in the middle of the speedo in orange.
Shift indicator is in the boost gauge in orange.
I think there were actually 2 different digital LCD displays during the series 1, the later had slightly better/smaller letters.  Might have switched when the Blue&Me system changed supplier/manufacturer.  Early ones like my one had a unit with 32MB RAM that crashed a lot.  Newer one they replaced it with had 64MB and I never had a problem with it again.

    Series 3
Sport light is in the middle of the boost gauge in orange.
Shift indicator is a white little picture that appears in dash/gauges

    Series 4
Sport light as series 3 but in white.
Shift indicator is an up or down arrow above the speed.  It is the only model to my knowledge that advises downshift as well as upshift.

The change to white sport light might not have been from beginning of series 4, I can't remember.
