I wouldnt worry about it too much this, i usually press clutch down to save transmission drag when cold and never press throttle when starting, only sometimes when ambient air temp is high then it might wind over longer to start, occasionaly i get 1 or 2 cylinder misfires from cold but these clear after 5secs or so, interesting exhaust sound, no heard a sound like that since my alfasud back in 'nam,.. service due shortly anyway.

Just be thankful it starts Loon!

have to be cold start, I got that problem as well when there was the only time I left my car outside on driveway and I need to use it at 4:30am with 2degrees.

I had the same problem at the start of the year, for a few weeks it would struggle to start first time.

Seems to have fixed itself now though.

This is a normal occurance for my car. If it's under about 10 degrees and its been raining, first start of the day will fire, not start. At first I thought is was due to the self check procedure the car does, but either way I can get the same result.

I get misfires on start up from cold with the engine light coming on on 70% of the occasions. The car is behaving like that from new. I 've done a search through the net and some people came to the conclusion that the problem is due to the poor calibration of the engine to the different fuel mixtures. From my experience i tend to agree to this scenario since the problem occurs after refueling. The thing is that this does not seem to be a problem that can be fixed. Another thing i can't understand is why some cars have this problem and some don't since the calibration and set-up of the engine is the same. I would have thought that in a forum like this with so many A500s more people would have reported the problem. Also i was wondering if there is anything we could do to make fiat aware of the problem and help to get to the bottom of it.
