If the car is off the ground, how freely should the rear wheel spin if the caliper isn't sticking? Mine manages about half a turn and makes a rubbing noise...

Looks like I've got the same problem then. I also had my rear brake pads replaced at 18k due to excessive wear...

I've booked mine in tomorrow also, however they don't have any loan cars. So if they need it for longer than the day, I need to find a family member to come and pick me up :-\

Oh well, at least the car will be being fixed.

I thought the tyre pressure was out in the rears but i reckon one wheel is binding and braking slightly in bends as the handling just feels weird. Will make sure the bearings are looked at and hopefully the shagged disc will be replaced too. I do have a complete set of brakes spare, but bloody fiat can pay for crappy gear they used.

I got to the garage and have been told minimum wait is 'til 5ish. I'm just going to leave the car here and get a lift, as really don't fancy spending the whole day here :/

Luckily it didn't squeak too much on the way up, but sometimes it was pretty loud!

Left the car there and borrowed a Punto rep mobile, great  ;D Needs new caliper, discs and pads so best not to leave the squeeking too long. All covered under warranty no problem.

Yea what the hell? I've just paid top dollar for mine as told they were "wear and tear" items?  ???

Rockingham corby. Picking it up tomorrow with nothing to pay, but my other half is very hot so tends to get what she wants :)

Damn. Can i borrow her?

I feel i'm owed a refund now. Chaps told me the excessive wear was not caused by the sticky caliper. But i guess they would say that if they thought they could get £340 from someone...

If wear to disc's can be proven to be due to Caliper sticking and causing pads to wear on disc's, it should be covered by warranty if you need new caliper.

Reading the forum can sometimes be reminiscent of how a hypochondriac may behave!

I suspect that my car might have some the aformentioned issues...

The only reason i was thinking this was occasionally ( and i mean very occasionally) sometimes when reversing and other times when going slowly forwards it makes a noise akin to (particularly difficult to describe), but if you imagine slipping a handbrake, or chewbacca howling (for a second then it stops).

The car was registered 31st December and we have had it for a week and a half now.

I don't want to have to run back to the dealers already, so is there a simple fix or is it a case of replacement caliper regardless?

Why is it particularly the osr caliper?

    Cheers
    I came, I saw, I purchased! I love it!
