Warning Light - Hill Holder & ESP?
« on: October 10, 2011, 07:25:08 pm »
I've just got a warning light - orange triangle lower rhs of dash display. The dash says 'Hill Holder unavailable', 'ESP unavailable' .......

Should I worry about this, do I need to take it to a dealer or is this something I could sort out?

I think I know the answer........but the dealer's miles away. Doh!

Faulty brake light switch causes this message

But members have also had this come up for loose ecu connections or from stalling the car ???

I had it once but it did seem to cure itself

I had that come up after I thrashed the car, the engine light was on also. It only happens when i really hammer the car, it seems to cut off and go about 10 mph. I have to leave it a while, then its ok again, engine light eventually goes off and all ok until the next thrash I guess.

It was a sensor on one of my front wheels last time I got this same error message/light.

I had it from a frazzled TMC box if that helps? Maybe worth checking that...  (if you have one!)

    Hi
Had exactly the same lights except I was happily driving up the M6 slowed for traffic and it was like the car stalled. The dashboard had a disco on me and scared me to death. I removed my TMC box in case it was the problem, lights went off after about 3 days. Took it to the dealer and they found a loose connection in my ECU.
All sorted now happy days.  :thumb:

    Hope u get it sorted

    No idea!

Roland at GTT put a new one on with the level 2 kit and it worked for half the journey home but then start doing some very odd things with 'hill holder' and 'esp' warning lights as well as sometimes restricting the revs. We swapped loads of things about before sending it back to Daron who swapped it for a new one as it was the box causing the problem. I may have made up the 'frazzled' bit - I'm sure there was a more technical description of the problem that went over my head!

I've got the same fault tonite with the engine management light on, had the same problem a month ago and it dissapearing by itself now it's back again. Hopefully just cure itself again, very weird though, car drives ok but idles a little odd, revs hunt slightly. Perhaps my tmc box??
