Monza exhaust actuator wiring loom damaged
« on: February 22, 2021, 02:05:07 pm »
Does anyone know the wire locations for the connector to the exhaust actuator/valve?  I've only just got the car but it seems to have been disconnected either by accident with a trailing lead catching something or purposely pulled out, so the wires are actually pulled out of the connector block.

The exhaust seems permanently open because of this and it's a bit loud when leaving home early, don't want to annoy the neighbours. ;D
If anyone can help by taking a photo of their connector block with the wire colours that would be great! It's a 2014 Comp.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum minature_hero :thumb:

The 2014 Comp did not have the connection on the monza you refer to.

It had the simple spring activated valve.

Aah! Ok, thanks for your reply.  I'll have to check it was that connector then! It must be something else.

Any ideas on what it could be, it seemed to be connected to the exhaust just before the rear backbox.  I'll send a photo of the bit when its light and dry out again.

Historically the Monza valve has stuck closed, which is why the new ones now have an actuator.

Because of the reputation of the valve sticking in the "quiet" position, some owners stick the valve open, noisy, using wire around it somehow to keep the valve open.

I think with your car, a previous owner has wired the valve in the open position, which could be the wires hanging off that you can see.

    Hope this helps

It was my mistake. I noticed it while on the test drive, couldn't get quite under the car enough to see exactly. So it's just as you've said, standard Monza with a sized valve. I've read posts on that so I'll work on freeing it up.

I've had a better look now I've got the car. The wiring is for the xenon headlight level sensor according to the part number on the part. So if anyone can give me the correct pinout or wire colours that would be great. I'll probably start a new thread to be honest. Thanks for all your help!
