Can anyone tell me what the little pocket to the right of the passenger seat is for?

It may be for an additional cup holder.
Bit bizarre as it gets in the way of the passenger, and they are hugely expensive to buy.

I agree I think you are referring to the cup holder fixing point. I tried using it as a storage point for something really small. Then went around a corner and it flew off into the seat well. I had to stop the car, walk around and rummage around to find it. I just felt stupid.

It does not make sense-then again , nor do the other cup holder points!
However , these are small complaints in a great car.

Hi, if you able to attach a photo of what you are looking at then we will be able to confirm if it is the cup holder fixing point or something else.

I use that useful little (Cup holder)pocket to hold my electric garage door  key fob!
+ the auto sequential box is great , a very sophisticated Mazda  box  ( see web explanation), def not a "slush box" 
 as some refer , have driven for 3 years now and better than my previous manual Fiat 124  Spider .
