Title: New trim levels for 124
Post by: Palazzi on March 01, 2018, 12:52:27 pm
As Abarth released the new hardtop version of the 124 yesterday they've also changed the names for the different trim levels (saw it on the Swedish Abarth-page). The names are now in line with those for the 595-series.

The 124 Spider Scorpione is now  "124 Spider" while the previous 124 Spider becomes the "124 Spider Turismo". The hard top version becomes the 124 GT.  I guess we can expect a "124 Spider Competizione" as the next release.
My guess is that the next update will come when the next generation Alfa 4C is released, with a higher price tag than before. That or this is a result of the Mazda deal...  2.5 years without an increase in power (it could do with an extra 20bhp).

I dont understand what abarth are trying to achieve here. They got a car that has a name to live up to and they can make it an absolute belter.

Even though this hard top looks nice,i think its maby abit pointless. They should of just made this an option on the catalogue to add .

Wheels look nice but why not offer them on the normal 124? offering different wheels should be on the bog standard 124 rather than add to a higher model range.

Just doesnt make sence.

Why not make more option and add ons to the regular 124 and then  make the "gt" something different...e.g a permanent hard top/coupe style thing?

This seems to be a premium car for just a few carbon bits like mirrors, spoiler and roof. Sorry abarth your missing a big oppurtunity with the 124 :( and i am sad.
