Sat Nav
« on: May 31, 2017, 08:47:29 pm »
Well we've finally taken delivery of our new Abarth 124 Spider.

Surprised and disappointed that it didn't have the sat nav sim included as standard as Fiat do with their top spec 124..

Anyway, I see there are 'genuine' cards for sale on ebay for the Fiat 124 unit.

I'm guessing these would work in the Abarth unit too?

Just make sure it's actually a new card, not a used one.

They lock to the vin after 100 miles or so.

I've just got one from eBay
65 quid, damn sight cheaper than dealer price.
It arrived today, I popped it in the slot and it works perfectly

Hi, just got an Abarth Spider Scorpione with the 7" screen and no nav. Reading various forums it seems I can get a card off Ebay for £60 that will work, but some say no post code function or UK speed camera warnings. Is that the case?
I'd like the nav, but not just for cosmetic reasons! Anyone help please? Thanks.

The one I purchased definitely has speed camera warnings, not just a horrible bing bong noise either.
The lady actually tells you very politely there is a camera ahead and if you’re going a bit fast she tells you to reduce your speed.
You also have a red and white sign in the display telling you the speed limit.
Can’t say for sure about postcode entry because I have not tried to do it yet.
I’m happy with it at the price.
    Hope this helps

I bought a chip from eBay too... postcode works, and if shows me where the camera are (not completely accurate from what I’ve seen so far), but I am not conscious of a verbal warning... I don’t really listen to her anyway, as a combo of the engine purr and bose make for better listening. :)

Interesting. Have emailed two of the suppliers on Ebay asking the same questions and whether or not the card can receive live travel updates, after being stuck on the M6 for three hours, on the way back from picking it up!Neither have so far replied.
The good news was that the car behaved well in nose to tail traffic for three hours, no issues, and then purred off when we finally got past a bad accident and recorded  39 mpg on the readout for the 150 mile trip.

There seems to be a little known promotion currently running for free satnav on Spiders registered between 1 September and 31 December 2017. I spoke to a guy on the Abarth customer services number and he has organised a free, genuine SD card for me. Saves me the hassle of trying to find a card on EBay and also saves nearly £500.
I would suggest that more people try getting a freebie.

Thanks themro for the info. Rang Abarth customer care this morning , who confirmed the promotion, and asked me to ring the supplying dealer. They told me my Scorpione model did not qualify, despite being registered last week. I have asked why  and if there are any other exclusions from the offer.
Glad you got the offer, does the card get live travel updates?

I'd be curious to hear their response too, I'll be picking up my Scorpione within the next week hopefully.

Did either of the eBay suppliers get back to you? Also wondering if anyone else in this thread owns a Scorpione or are they all 'full-fat' Abarths?
