Fuel stabiliser
« on: October 30, 2019, 05:35:55 pm »
Hi all, this is my first post as have only recently joined. I don't plan to use my new Spider over the next few months as the winters around here are pretty tough on cars with a lot of salt on the roads from gritters and sea spray. I've read advice on the web about avoiding tyre ovalisation and drying out of air con seals by running the engine with air con on and moving the car every fortnight. Personal experience with outboard engines suggests I should use a fuel stabiliser. Has anyone got a favourite brand and a trusted UK supplier? Halfords only sell a combined stabiliser and lead additive!
BTW my lower USB port doesn't charge my phone - the top one does! Anyone else noticed this?

    Welcome to the forum ArdsAbarthist.

Regarding the fuel stabiliser, be careful with the Cat in the exhaust system. Make sure it's safe to use.

Thanks for the reply. I've managed to find some Wynns stabiliser on Amazon.

I checked the USB ports and they BOTH charge my phone. Let us know if you still have the issue and if you get a resolution.  Kind regards.  A

Thanks for checking your car. My problem is still there. I'll take it up with the dealer when it goes in for the first service in April as I've laid up my Spider for the winter now.

Finally got my first service done at our local Abarth dealer. The faulty USB port has been replaced under warranty. I had to go back when they got the new part from Abarth, but the actual fitting only took 90 minutes and it works properly now. Good service from Donnelly Group in Mallusk, just outside Belfast. Impressively COVID compliant too!
