Will not go into drive
« on: December 27, 2021, 01:39:24 pm »
Hello

I wonder if you can help with my 124 automatic, it will happily go from park into reverse then onto natural but will not engage drive. With the car in neutral position it goes straight down with no notches or spring to the bottom of the panel is this right . Just for your reference the car has only covered 7000 miles. Any help much appreciated.

Hi again I think I might have answered my own question. I have just been working on the car and undid the gear selector from the inside by removing the four bolts that hold it in place to the transmission tunnel. If I move the whole unit back (lifting it up over the studs) by a couple of mm I can select drive and neutral very happily. So my next question is how do I adjust the cable/linkage ?

    Many Thanks

Assuming you don't answer within the next hour ;D

You might also get help on an MX5 forum.
