Track day/Test drive
« on: August 02, 2016, 06:04:53 pm »
I'm down at Silverstone at the weekend playing in the 124 & 595 (wonder if they'll let me take my APE round?!)
Anyone else signed up?

Have you put down a deposit for the A124?

    Or is this something else?

I've signed up a number of times via the Abarth website for more info/brochure with no results,  rang my local dealer and I've never had any replies, Its like they don't want my money.
It seems others must have better dealers or are getting more success than me  :'(

I simply registered interest in the A124 a while ago on the main Abarth website I've also put the feelers out on Carwow.
    Not put any cash down......yet(!)
Last week received an email asking if I'd like to book up on the test drive this weekend.
No idea why I'm the 'chosen one'

    Maybe just 'random' then.

I just wish they'd asked me.........

Sue, how did you get on at Silverstone? I'm keen to know your thoughts. Oh, and I love the APE - I have promised myself I will own one some day...!
    Cheers, Jon

    Fantastic day!

20 minutes in both the 124 and the 595 then a passenger lap in the Biposto.

The 124 is a cracking car. Handled beautifully despite my best attempts to slide it round the corners.  Got a nice bit of grunt to it and it makes a great noise out the record monzas!!
I drove the manual but, chatting to someone who took the auto out, it was a little disappointing
Hardly need to  change gear at all in the manual, tonnes of torque there.

Couldn't fault the day at all and big thanks to Abarth for arranging it
I think this should link to a few photos https://goo.gl/photos/i8DHXs8JFMcVQ2wN6

    That's great to hear..
Glad you had a fun day.
Some lovely cars in your pics, too.
Are you 'popping in' to your local dealer, now....!?

Too many times I've heard the 'auto' is very disappointing, myself included.

This could be down to a rogue car, as according to the head Abarth sales bloke at Goodwood, they only have 4 cars available to play with.
So the under powered 'auto' I drove at Goodwood could be the same one at Silverstone.

Your drive in the manual 124, SSue, sounds just the ticket. :thumb:

    Thanks Jonscz.
May well be the same one 124AbarthReplica, definitely no problems with the manual!

Drove a RHD Manual at Oulton Park today. While not a dedicated track car by any means, it was quick, comfortable and it felt 'grown up'

If my fleet was a bit less full of convertible cars, I could well be tempted.
