Tyre rotation
« on: October 29, 2020, 08:17:18 am »
Hi everyone.

Should I rotate the tyres as per the info system....the mechanic yellow symbol appeared recently, about 6500miles. I reset it... but am I dismissing something that is important.

I’m not taking the car out on the track, just A124 normal driving :)

Cheers

A

It’s an interesting question; to rotate or not, if the car is driven only on public roads.
Personally speaking, my public road A124 driving is fairly spirited when the situation allows. I’m sure I wear my rear tyres faster than my fronts, so I have rotated mine to try and equalise the usage.
As a d.i.y. project it’s straightforward, but I didn’t have enough axle stands to hand so I wimped out and got the dealer to do it at the annual service.
Perhaps your local Kwik Fit (or similar) would oblige for a small consideration?

On our Abarth 500 fitted with the P Zero tyres, I swapped front to back, to even out the wear. I did swap side to side once and these noisy tyres were really much noisier, I would not recommend it.

Thanks for the advice. You have both highlighted things I had not thought of and this will be of use to the community.

    Thank you.
