I was looking for second opinions on whether to take the trumpet out of the air box when fitting an after-market BMC panel filter, or whether it's better left in, and what affect both of these have on the overall sound/functionality?

If anyone is wondering what I'm talking about there is a fellow Abarthisti user who posted a video of himself replacing his own filter, Here is the video:

He states that you should take out the trumpet in the bottom of the air box, but my question is, why? Is there any immediate reason for doing this, or is it another old wife's tail about increasing airflow and in turn increasing performance? (we all know panel filters are very unlikely to increase performance what so ever).

Thanks, Olly.

Mine is out and has been for some time I also modded the trumpet on the top of the inner air box making a cut to the upper pipe allowing air to draw in easier.  Regarding performance and I'll stand corrected but I've been told that the set up on the APE is good and changing to induction made no difference ??????

I'm not quite sure what you mean by upper pipe? As I commented on the other thread, it would be great to see some more detail/pictures of the mod you've done to help me and anyone else who stumbles across this thread.  :thumb:

    Thanks, Olly.
