True, not sure why I just presumed it would be similar power.

Reason I'm asking: I will either buy a AGP SS or Standard APE in August (budget won't stretch to a brand new APE SS) and I am then aiming to tune it to 220/230bhp.

My problem is insurance - I'm 27 but have no NCB so current quotes are around 1k for an AGP SS, with modifications it's ridiculous (more than double) so standard AGP isn't really an option, I may aswell buy an AGP SS as a base because insurance doesn't change too much with the added power and it will mean less modifications to get to the desired power (remap or TMC would mean 215 for example)

I also noticed the standard APE has the larger turbo so that is now an option aswell.

Anyone want to help with making a decision?! (luckily I have a few months to ponder and see what tuning options develop for the APE).  :thumb:

I drove an AGP SS a few years back and in all honestly wasn't blown away. Was driving a 180bhp Fiesta ST at the time and it just didn't compare. That being said I had the salesman in the car the whole time and couldn't exactly exploit it to it's full potentially so maybe i'm being a little more than unfair with my opinion.

I only bought the APE with the sole intention of modding it so wasn't overly bothered when I first drove it. That being said I did find it really fustrating how short the gears were, kept hitting the limiter the whole time. (My other car is an FTO which rev's to 8k so it takes a bit of getting used to)

The APE is super comfortable and really feel's like a premium hatch. Espeshily with all the gadgets like Blue & Me, cruise control, stop/start, awesome stereo and the Normal/Sport mode button. The fact that it already has the bigger turbo is a real advantage when it comes to tuning. With the TMC i can confidently say mine has got to be in the ball park of 200bhp, it certainly feels rapid.

All that being said they are both essentially the same car and the APE is 3k more than the AGP was as standard. I would say if you you just want to tune the balls off it and aren't fussed about the gadgets then def get a AGP.

I am swaying towards AGP SS as it will also be much cheaper to get an old plate (prob 09), I also think I prefer the look of it but the APE is growing on me.

Problem is, is there going to any AGP SS on sale at the time I want to purchase?!  ???

you might get a good price on the last unregistered AGP if its still out there, plus SS kit and TMC and you would have quite a car :thumb:

Probably be long gone by then... frustrating!! I would be happy with a relatively low mileage AGP SS though, will have to wait and see at the time.
