Koni FSD Vs Bilstein
« on: April 20, 2013, 10:13:14 pm »
So whilst I am waiting for my SuperSport to arrive I have been looking at the bits and bobs I want to add to the car, thankfully I have just got my last bonus from my old job before I start my new job on Monday and it just so happens it would cover getting the Koni upgrade, However I've seen a few people running Bilstein as an alternative option.

What are peoples views on both? I'm guessing the Koni's should offer a better overall performance however I'd be interested to see what's the alternative views.

According to TMC the Bilsteins are hands down better. I have no personal experience in the matter tho.

Bilstein's are ace and transformed the car. I only had my APE standard for a few months prior to upgrading but I felt the handling left a lot to be desired. Ride was harsh and too much roll in the corners.

Ride is a lot better with the Bilsteins and the cornering ability is just unreal. Once you have them on you APE will not thank you as you will be abusing it around corners. Along with the torque vectoring system it makes the APE a very capable car.

I'd echo Russ' comments but for the standard SS Konis kit, I haven't tried the Bilsteins but have used my SS in anger and taken class wins in my past couple of events and came 3rd overall today, an APE can certainly handle on Konis, I hazard a guess that it might be sharper still on Billies but I'd doubt yyou could go wrong with either.

Koni are quite comfy when not on it, though I would wait for your car drive it a bit, I think you will find a stock APE  is quite capable really.
