Exhaust - What do I need?
« on: August 04, 2013, 10:47:20 pm »
Basically I am looking at buying a 2 or 3 year old punto evo abarth, test drove it and loved it. But I want it to sound more high end and throaty. But here's the thing I have no idea about exhausts whatsoever, I really don't want to spend alot and I don't really need a performance boost from it just the sound.

I've listened to a few, still undecided on which make but I quite like the Supersprint one but what do I actually need from them to make it sound better without spend loads? I found this on their site, so will just this Supersprint Rear exhaust OO80 part do or what?

Thanks.

Instead of buying a whole exhaust for my Panda 100HP I bought a Cherry Bomb "Glasspack" rear muffler / back box off Ebay for £25, installed it myself with a welder & created a custom bracket.   This along with an Induction Kit gave the Panda a deep exhaust note which sounded great in tunnels like Hindhead on the A3 in Surrey.  :thumb:

When I get my 2nd APE i'll prob buy a cherry bomb for it.

Swapping over to a sports back box will add a little extra volume but not totally transform the car, if you can budget for a cat back system that will add a little more volume over just a back box.

MW Motorsport in Germany offers a good selection of exhausts that you won't find in the UK where the Abarth Punto is less well supported in the aftermarket world - http://www.italo-tuning.de/exhausts-engine-14-c-49_77_1981_1984.html

Just make sure you get the correct application ie T-Jet (Gran) or Multi-air (Evo)

Or you could look to have a custom exhaust built, custom back boxes can be made for between £200-£300+ depending on type and where you go then £300+ for a cat back custom. Bonus with going custom is you can select quite or loud and type/style of tailpipe or even go dual or quad with pipes on both sides of the bumper :thumb:
