Short shift
« on: May 02, 2014, 04:38:31 pm »
Hi guys i was wondering if anyone had fitted a short shifter to their AGPE?

I have only managed to find 2 sites that sell them. The one from italo-tuning.de/gtech-short-shifte, i messaged them asking if it would fit the 180 ss (which i have) but they messaged me back saying it didn't. Then i found this site performancegarage.it it looks exactly the same and list all the different variations of the abarth.

Could anyone here help me out please, thanks

There are no differences between an AGP/AGP-SS or EVO/EVO SS/Supersport as far as the gearbox is concerned, so a short shifter kit for a non-SS'd car will work fine with an SS'd car.

Personally speaking I'd probably go for the G-Tech kit over the other two as G-Tech have a very good reputation for making aftermarket parts.

There used to be a G-Tech partner here in the UK but I think they may have gone bust/quit selling G-Tech stuff

If you go for this and have it fitted please post your findings on here. The gearbox is the main thing I dont like about the APE and would like to know if a short shifter helps.

I actually find the box' ok, apart from 1st to 2nd. It's a bit "notchy", and can crunch when cold..

I guess it just depends on what you had before. I had a Panda 100HP,not only were the changes Enfield rifle bolt action smooth but also set high up and better position. I find the gearbox very notchy although that might be because its brand new. As mentioned before I also find the ratios too short so anything that helps with the shift times would be great.

    Welcome to the club dancho!

I've not heard of the Bonalume shifter but the G Tech one is quite popular I believe..

Thank you for the websites, I'm sure someone will have a look soon :thumb:

one of the original heros of the forum, Magicmole, had a Bonalume shortshifter on his AGP, I tried it and couldn't spot the difference... then I got back in my car and thought "oh my god, this is a long throw", so there you go ;D

    Hello,
In both cases you have to remove the exhaust.

I purchased the short shift from G-Tech, next week will get me home.
I'll tell you how long it takes for assembly.
I buy it in Italo-tuning. com

    thanks
