standard vs koni fsd
« on: August 21, 2014, 08:38:50 pm »
Hi guys! has anyone felt the difference between the standard evo dampers and the koni fsd from the esseesse? Do they give a harder or softer ride? considering the upgrade as I already have the red ss lowering springs

The general conscensus is that you will get a smoother, more confidant  ride and the car will handle better through corners and on the limit.
Will, the Moderator recently made the change and gave it the thumbs up. Also heard good things about the Koni FSDs from AbarthMiniGurl.

Yeeeesss just get the fsd's drive a standard Abarth evo before deciding to buy an esseesse kit. Once kit fitted the fsd's are much more well behaved, more supple, less crashy and really tightnen up on the limit.

Can anyone advise whether I have to declare the Koni upgrade to my cars suspension to my Insurance company.
I did the upgrade to my original A500 but that was 5 years ago and I can't remember. ::)

Do Konis come with springs or would it be a waste of money to by springs also?

    As above :thumb:

They will be stiffer and quite a bit lower than the stock EVO springs :)

Let me know when you're free next and I'll take you out for a spin in mine as the Koni kit has nicely bedded in now :D

    Cheers. :thumb:
Is the jury still out regarding the insurance implications? Did anyone who has upgraded to Konis need to report the alteration to their insurance company? Not sure about the implications.....

Fitting due in a fortnight. :thumb:

if you take  boring car to quik fit for a new damper, they fit a damper, you don't know or care what make it is, and you drive away

is there an insurance implication for actually knowing the make of damper, and caring

..if you see my point :thumb:

Like Lloyd so elegantly pointed out, who is to know?

The shocks themselves have Abarth stamped all over and have Fiat/Ricambi part numbers.

My renewal is in 5 weeks, when I renew and I'm asked if the car has been modified or has any optional extras fitted, I will state that it has optional suspension fitted, just to be safe :thumb:

Ok, thanks for the input guys.  :thumb: It was just the concern of being involved in a shunt and then finding out I wasn't covered.
I think I will have to devote a bit of time this weekend going through the small print of my policy just to be on the safe side.

Checked my policy and I have to inform them of any changes to suspension, brakes, engine management etc so it looks like a call needs to be made. :o
