Title: Thinking about selling!
Post by: Paveway on September 20, 2014, 10:35:03 am
Thinking about selling my Evo but unsure about pricing. This niche brand is really not reflected with the guide prices, which also seem to vary dramatically.

Look in the classified on here. What car are you getting next by the way?

Im not. Im looking to buy a bike!
As much as I love the APE, ive not driven as much as wanted to, hence the sub 9k miles in almost 2 years.

Oh, and its a Triumph Daytona im looking at ;-)

Im not a bike person really but I appreciate them and the Triumph Daytona is gorgeous. You would think with the APE being so rare that they would be worth a lot. But by what ive read from posts by owners (some on here) they struggle to sell. I think the rarity and unknown factor of Abarth puts some people off.

Definitely a niche market for Abarth; but is this not part of the appeal. What has frustrated me a little, is how disinterested the dealer is. They are not willing to purchase. Im sure however that if I turn up and say I no longer want the PCP they will happily accept! Not that this will happen though.  >:(

I was offered £6000 by a dealer near me for my 2.5 year old AGP Esseesse.  It had 24k miles, Skydome, Climate, etc..

Unfortunately these cars do not hold their value.

Knowing the trouble I had shifting the last one I'm going to keep this until its 4th year nd hand back, as it certainly won't be worth the Guaranteed Future Value that's for sure and won't be competitive as a part-ex :(

I got £8000 for my 2.5 year evo ss with 25000 miles. I was gutted.

It's the same reason I got an A500. I'd have the evo back in a heartbeat though to be honest.

£8000 appears to be the average for a Punto as that's eventually what I got as a private sale.

Obviously didn't put me off too much as I bought another :)

It is appalling really. I will certainly not take consolation from you guys joint losses. Really do feel for you too.

I've just bought one from a dealer for £10,650 with 40K miles, have I made a mistake?

Not at all!  Selling is always a different story to buying :)

Traders need to make a reasonable margin on cars, dealers usually less so.

You can usually add £3000-£4000 onto the trade value to get to the forecourt price.  Dealers need to factor in warranty claims, haggle room, service, MOT and depreciation for the time that they have the car.

Enjoy your new purchase and don't worry about trade value until you need too :thumb:
