Quite a few complaints on Alfa owner regarding the QV and first gear, same box as the Evo, mine was a little rubbish first few hundred miles, kept popping out, well not quite going in, seems fine now, no issues with stop start, only when cold does it still feel a little ropey, a double depress on the clutch or drop into 2nd then first seems to sort it.

Get in touch with the dealer as it may be a simple linkage issue, my Alfa GT had problems going into first all the time and the dealer fixed it, I don't feel my APE has a problem as it goes in slick when warm.

Going to do long run this weekend and see what it like after that.

It is only when cold and its not a big issue just annoying when it does it.

Out of interest how long does gearbox take to warm up because will do it when car warm.

My dads Mazda 3 had 20k on clock and that still did not like going in 1st when cold so i know it can be common.

mines has improved loads, not given 1st a thought  now there is a few miles on it, still don’t think it’s the best box and will put it in to get checked I think, perhaps suggest a gear oil change as its noisier than any gearbox I have ever owned, that’s what most of the Italian APE owners seem to be doing.

Shame really as its probably the only thing that lets the car down, everything else is pretty good, the engine is a cracker.
