Airbox modification
« on: August 09, 2014, 07:28:08 pm »
Hi,

I was hoping for some advice on what you guys and girls did as an air box modification, im sure i read somewhere with the puntos its better to put a panel filter (I got the BMC one) and drill holes in your air box rather then get a cone system(something to do the way our engine and various things are laid out doesnt provide decent intake of cold air?)

if this is correct any advice on "how to" mod the box itself.

Thanks,

Dan

Take all the trumpets out the inside mate. Then where the trumpet attaches on the outside. Rid that and then drop it low down in the engine batt to pick up some fresher air. Mines an esseesse mapped by angel. It had a flat spot at 4k that was due to airflow. Made these mods, reset the ecu and it seems to have sorted it right out.

What does removing the 'Trumpet' actually do, I read somewhere that this can actually decrease the air intake because it gives less surface area for the air to be sucked in by? I have next to no understanding of the mechanics of the air box but really want to understand more in order to achieve some turbo chatter and make that re-circ valve sound like a dump... I look forward to a reply  :thumb:
