Not semi-auto, but the C635 dual-clutch gearbox was originally pencilled in for the Evo for 2012.

so that would be similar to the 500c?

No, the 500C uses the same 5-speed manual gearbox as your car, but with the additional MTA automated change module.

The C635 is a new transmission with a DSG-style dual-clutch arrangement.

What cars is the said box in already? Alfa i'm guessing? Did the Croma have this too?

None, it's new.

It'll arrive in the Giulietta next year.

It's already in the Mito 135 models

They often test a gearbox on one specific model and then modify it for the rest of the range.
The box in the Mito may not be the exact one that makes its debut in the Abarth.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about that one - originally that 'box was set to debut in manual form with the 170 version but also arrived in TCT guise (as Alfa call it) for the 135 only.

well my ol' man spent 2 hours at Thames yesterday, and after testing the 500c, his comment was " doesn't arf go "

I won't let him near Rory

He did comment that he prefers the evo and would like the 500c gearbox in that.. kinda takes the fun out of it doesn't it?

Not at all.
The flppy paddle box means you can change gear quicker and its easier to make the famous "pops & bangs" :thumb:

This is the first review I've seen, although admittedly I've not been looking for one, so I assume TCT is actually only now just becoming available on the Alfa.

A little disappointing she keeps referring to it as an auto - I wonder if she does the same for VW's DSG.  And she appears to spend more time reviewing Start&Stop than the transmission itself.

What's in the 695 John?

C510 MTA - just the same box as your 500, but with the added automated change module.

695 has revised electronics though, so it's a faster change than the 500C.
