Think I'll be getting a APE in 2012 really liking white red stripes will be most common colour but not way up in the highlands  ;D

Tash and tail will have to be painted and red wheels scorpion claws gone (just to keep it a little unique).

They seem a far better made car than the AGP.

I got mine with 10 miles on the clock from Research Nuneaton a few weeks ago and took it straight on holiday to France where I experienced a mixture of all types of driving. My previous car was a Fiat Evo sporting which I really wish I'd not wasted money on as it's not a great car. The APE on the other hand is a fantastic touring car. Much more comfortable, much more fun to drive in the twisties and much more power. Only problems so far; a strong smell of burning oil which has only just stopped, (and no that's not 'cos all the oil's run out!) Also, 5th to 4th gear changes would beat the synchro and crunch but that too seems to have gone with around 2800 on the clock. I'm loving it. As a car for the real world with enough power, reasonable economy and comfort and great fun to drive there isn't as much competition as you might think. I agree with some of you that Abarth need to raise their profile and sell some cars!

Funny you should say about burning, I was having that tail end of this week and have just been out and pulled the engine cover off (breaking it in the process  ::) :( ) to take a poke around see if its anything obvious, at first I assumed it was other cars, but it's definitely me, I can see no leaks, its very strong after some exuberant driving and then I pull up, the smell comes in the cabin, I'll have to book it in tomorrow.

Well, we've had ours for a while now. My thoughts:
    Plus side
Great car to drive everyday, comfortable, reasonably quiet, swifter than I think the posted data would suggest, handles really quite well for a small car although don't get the opportunity to really push it, but to the extent we do it copes admirably. Not had any of the burning smell either...
    Minus Side
Fuel economy - I have no idea how they managed to get the posted figures, even with g/f driving in normal mode we struggle to get past 35mpg which is pretty poor even considering the power it has. Blue and Me is obscenely complicated (to me anyway!), ours is black and it seems the paintwork isn't that tough - easy to scratch it when removing bird sh*t etc. Rear seats don't fold down with the sport seats in the front set to our driving position. In normal mode sometimes the car will bog down when pulling away (turbo lag?). Start and Stop is a nightmare...maybe its just me, but it seems that just as I take my foot off the clutch and the engine stops..the lights change so you dip the clutch and pull away..only to stall the damn thing (embarrassing!)
    Niggles:
Drivers courtesy light thing above the handle went out and can only be replaced with a white one - so now we have one white and one orange. Drivers seat suddenly refused to tilt forward, slight buzz from drivers door speaker when up fairly loud, water in nearside repeater refuses to budge, squeaky clutch.

All niggles have been sorted by the dealer now, and hey its Italian so what do you expect right....! The minus points are only really minor..but you did ask :-)

Spoke to the dealer about the burning smell and they seem to think its perhaps related to a waxy covering over some parts, seems reasonable enough as I can see no leaks anywhere, it's still going in to them to give it a once over though to be sure. Despite having done trackdays in it I always give it a decent warm up/cool down period whereas when I hit stop start traffic with the engine still running after a run through some quiet lanes there is probably a lot of heat build up.

Its is a great car to cover distance in, the engine is very smooth, personally I love blue and me, economy very much depends on the mood I am in and whether there is scope for fun ;D

Have seen a couple of tanks over 40mpg though, just going with the flow.

Its like alot of things, there are probally quicker cars out there, better handling cars out there, maybe even cheaper cars out there but its all about the complete package and the way the car makes you feel when you look and drive it.

Ive had a good look at Russ's Evo and Im really quite taken with it, when I ordered my A500 my boss was tryin to talk me into a AGP but I wasnt really taken with the AGP but the Evo has really grown on me, if my situation was different and I wasnt so worried about the car being kept in a garage (as the Evo wouldnt fit in my garage) I might very well have held out for an Evo.

Would make a great second hand buy I reckon, only thing is trying to find a Red one second hand could be an issue lol did I mention Reds the best colour? :thumb:

Thanks for all your replies. Unfortunately the 2 i were looking at for £11,990 have sold, hardly surprising at that price. I did enquire about a certain Japanese Super car on Saturday instead, but it was a tad too dear...

If they existed in the first place, when buying my 147GTA there were a number of places advertising cars for much lower than the going rate only for them to be sold when I called up, but of course there were others on the way for the going rate, coincidence, I think not, fairly established sales technique.

Do the Japanese make a supercar????

Fairly illegal too if the advertised car didnt ever exist. Before it became illegal a very small ammount of dealers were getting customers to come in over the phone from some fairly big distances just to find the car was sold while they were on the phone.
