Title: APE SuperSport
Post by: DustFlare on April 08, 2012, 11:17:35 am
Hello, does anyone know the release date of the APE SuperSport and the rough price please? Considering chopping in my 3 year old Fiat A500 for one, the kids are fast outgrowing the tiny 500!  ;D

Do you mean the Scorpione?

https://www.abarthforum.co.uk/abarth-punto-evo/abarth-punto-scorpione/

Nothing has been confirmed or released yet.

Edit: Actually, I'd forgotten about the SuperSport (https://www.abarthforum.co.uk/abarth-punto-evo/abarth-punto-supersport/).

Er not sure? My dearler said they are getting one in soon, they look very similar! I want a grey one though.

Of the two, SuperSport is more likely to appear, with Scorpione in limited numbers and special order.  That's my understanding.

Ok ta. Do you know if there are any new models coming out then? I have a copy of Fiat's 4 year plan and next year they say there is a new APE coming out. I don't want to buy an APE now only for a new one to arrive next year!

Abarth are notoriously unpredictable and second-guessing them is usually a dangerous game, so this is to be taken with large amounts of salt.

As far as I know, Evo will not be getting the facelift its Fiat brother has just had.  It's next upgrade will be when the entirely new Punto comes out (which I believe is currently scheduled for 2014).

Scorpione may or may not arrive over here (current rumours = yes no, it's sold out, limited numbers, special order, expensive).

When Evo launched, it was rumoured that it would receive the C635 dual-clutch transmission (known in Alfa circles as TCT), but there's been no sign of that since so I imagine that plan has been binned.

I don't know of anything, other than some kind of limited edition, that might appear next year.  If you want an Evo now, get one now. :thumb:

Of course, this now means a press release will arrive next week detailing some new Punto... ::)

My understanding is that Evo will not be getting the same facelift as the current Fiat, ordering for the Fiat version ended quite a while ago but I can still order Abarth Evo.
Supersport Scorpione will not be hitting the U.K. but Scorpione Supersport will apparently with pricing and delivery yet to be confirmed.

I wouldn't want to second guess Abarth UK but Id say if we were going to get the SuperSport then we would have had it by now..

The rest of the world either has it or can order it, just not us :(

You know it  ;D

So, not quite a press release, but some new info has become available which means we can clarify things a little.

When the Abarth Punto Scorpione (https://www.abarthforum.co.uk/abarth-punto-evo/abarth-punto-scorpione/) (the black one) was first announced, as far as we knew it would be available in a limited run of 199 units, in LHD form only, and as a special order from Turin.  That's still the case, although other information suggests these have all sold out anyway.

The Abarth Punto 'SuperSport' (https://www.abarthforum.co.uk/abarth-punto-evo/abarth-punto-supersport/) (the grey one) will be coming to the UK.  There's still no word on price other than rampant speculation (which I won't join in with) but the first dealer cars are expected to land second half of June.

I'll make a few edits to this thread so there's no (more) confusion. :thumb:

Oh ok thanks. The one I saw in mancs is that white one yes. I wonder how much the supersport will be? Shame its got those funny seats in them, im not keen on those. The evo I had recently had them and they feel rather cheap and gave me back ache! Im guessing it will be more than 16k all told then?
Title: Re: APE SuperSport
Post by: olopboy on April 15, 2012, 10:41:55 am
Given a base Evo is £16,8k I think that's a safe bet
Title: Re: APE SuperSport
Post by: will-w on April 15, 2012, 11:56:42 am
As Chris said, no chance it'll come in that low.. If it did at the publicised spec then they'd sell out in minutes!

As said by previous people, an equal spec Evo is around £23k..

As the SuperSport looks to be a special edition I doubt you'll get change from £25k :(

I was seriously tempted to buy an Evo SS after driving Ivan's at Goodwood, and I am sorely temped to buy a SuperSport when/if it is launched.  Just don't think I could live owning a car that will loose over 60% of its value by its 3rd birthday :thumbd:

Title: Re: APE SuperSport
Post by: lloyd on April 15, 2012, 07:42:18 pm
things are going up Phil, even the new Fiat Punto de-evo starts at over £12k.

An APE with SS and sabelts won't be cheep, i'd guess at £22995, we'll see :thumb:
Title: Re: APE SuperSport
Post by: John501 on April 15, 2012, 10:52:28 pm
Wow, I've left this alone to see if anyone would pick up on this by themselves but it appears I was the only one to spot it.
If you read Simer's post here https://www.abarthforum.co.uk/general-abarth/2013-model-range/msg227148/#msg227148
then you'll see that super sport is 21,990 Euro's, roughly translated it makes the car £19999 in the U.K. presuming that we get the same spec.
I'm certainly not saying that this is the confirmed U.K. price but I would suggest it wont be far away from it.
Title: Re: APE SuperSport
Post by: will-w on April 15, 2012, 10:58:02 pm
John, if it comes in at that price and holds the spec then you'll get an order from me :thumb:

... providing the missus gives it the ok, and I can order it without the stripes (she doesn't like them) ::)

Edit: And providing I can get more than £3.50 for the AGP :(
Title: Re: APE SuperSport

I'm surprised know-one has mentioned this yet:

http://www.abarth.it/it/CMSIT/Pages/abarth_punto_supersport.aspx

It's changed since the showcar. No Sabelts and the wheels are just scorpions in black. EsseEsse spec 180bhp but no mention of Koni's or larger brembos. The stripe on the Bonnet is subtly different too.

Official specs vary from region to region.
It's not unusual for one region to have bits of spec as standard when other regions have them as options.
I'd wait for the official UK specs to be published before any opinion is reached ::)

Elsewhere (Abarth.it (http://www.abarth.it/it/CMSIT/Pages/abarth_punto_supersport.aspx) website, for instance) it still states 270Nm as you'd expect.

In other news, the SuperSport is now available in the Configurator on the Italian Abarth site:-

It's difficult to piece together exactly what's happened here, but it does seem that Turin has muddled up the Scorpione and SuperSport at some point during their development or, if you're more cynically minded, engaged in a hefty round of de-contenting on SuperSport.

As things stand, it looks likely that SuperSport is really just an Evo with black-painted wheels, matt black mirrors, some black vinyl, a couple of stickers on the flanks and tailgate, and half an esseesse kit (i.e. it's minus the wheels and the Konis).  I don't think I've missed anything?

All the other goodies that were originally announced (here (https://www.abarthforum.co.uk/abarth-punto-evo/abarth-punto-supersport/)) as being on the SuperSport - the Sabelts, 18" wheels, Blue&Me Map, laser-etched graphics on the kick plate, etc - seem to be reserved for the Scorpione (as originally announced here (https://www.abarthforum.co.uk/abarth-punto-evo/abarth-punto-scorpione/)), of which there'll be only 10 RHD examples for the UK market.

Of course, the only way to know for sure is to see what arrives when they land on these shores in a few days' time.

no Konis on the Supersport either, but Sabelts are standard

the stripes are strange things, the bonnet has a big matt black sticker with thin shiny black edging, the grey stripes on the centre of the bonnet are stickers on the sticker

i'm not a big fan of it :thumbd:

I might be wrong but Sabelts are not standard but the Konis are. The option list is a bit thin looking at it, mainly the choice of having leather seats, Sabelts, centre arm rest, dipping rear view mirror or tyre pressure monitoring system. I still really enjoyed the one I tried, I really liked the look of it, but with my previous record with graphics and stickers its probably no surprise.

Price for the standard Evo remains unchanged at £16850

The Abarth Punto Evo will not be able to be ordered from the factory after the 14th of January.
Current stock will still be avaiable at £16852.
After that date only the Evo Supersport will be available to order.
The Supersport is now available in Scorpion Black, 1949 White and Velocity red as well as the current Campovolo Grey.
The stripe kit and black alloy wheels are now not standard equipment but are available as the "Heritage pack" at an additional cost of £948

had a good read of the supersport spec today, in short, the previous base Evo has now gained supersport badges, climate, SS exhaust. BMC airfilter and reflash to 180bhp

heritage kit adds bonnet and roof stripes, pedals, kick plates , black wheels and yellow calipers(except on red cars where calipers stay red)

Seat options are as before,

Grey is still the free colour, the rest being optional.

Abarth cars site shows a Koni kit which includes the SS red springs.
