Title: CV Joint Offside
Post by: Scorp!on on April 09, 2015, 09:25:44 am
So...
The car has been making a loud clicking when reverse parking and occasionally when on full lock from the drivers side for some time now. Had the car looked at by an independent local to me and basically the CV joint is loose. He advises replacement, however because of the sort of car it is, we can't just replace the CV joint, the entire drive shaft needs replacing at £300+  :o
I just wondered if anyone else has had similar problems, or has any advise for me?

From your description and having it verified, then it appears to be a u/s cv joint.

A new or recon shaft is certainly the easiest route.

To replace just the cvj then it looks like a visit to the independent Factors as Fiat do not list a separate joint.

Just to update...

CV Joint has been fixed by a local mechanic.
It was able to just have the joint replaced and not the entire drive shaft after all.

So if anyone is having similar problem just be aware when going to the dealerships as they will more than likely try and flog you the entire drive shaft.

Thank you for the update but to be fair to Fiat/Abarth dealers, the complete shaft is all FCA will supply.
