General happiness with the APE
« on: March 11, 2011, 11:29:56 am »
Time has come to replace my runabout as its getting a bit long in the tooth, I've considered a lot of motors to buy over time but I think the APE will suit me, it cheap an cheerful, decent performance and looks good, I've always liked my peppy little Italian motors.

So I guess the question to people who have picked one up is are you happy, if you could change it for something else in the same bracket, would you? having now experienced an APE for a while?

I was initially put off by the lack of full leather but it seems most cars I am interested in have done similar, must be a trend (a crap one I might add) do leather or don't do it what's the point to a half arsed job!

is there much new stock about, don't fancy waiting months as I'll end up spending money on my banger at which point I'll sit in it for another year as I'm lazy like that  ;D ::)

APE good choice, there is a thread on here asking similar question regarding those that have bought are they happy, just have a little search. All positive.

There was until recently a pre reg APE at Petch with reasonable spec, saving could fund seats etc being recovered in leather if you wanted.

Dealers will advise on immediate availability.

Had my APE over 4 months now and wouldnt change it for anything else, with Tmc its running around the 190bhp mark, so if you want a little more power there is your first mod ;D. I went for the1949 white, skydome roof and climate with red stripe kit.
I wasnt bothered about leather to cold in winter and two hot in summer for me and not enough of it on the seats anyway.
The standard seats look good and are very comftable.
There are a few APE'S knocking around, if you look on a well known auction site. The car Martin is talking about is
a pre reg car, it has climate and leather, i nearly bought it myself but wanted the skydome roof.
Great well built car, what are you waitng for :thumb:

Is the tmc box a noticable difference?

I was wondering all the same things. But I think Abarth is the way to go.

Need to fast forward time so I can get my order in.

TMC makes a noticable difference to NP and SS versions.
The sooner you order the sooner you get the car ;D

    Hi there

I have had my APE from 1/9/2010 - think i was the first?

I have had a few decent cars over my time  -Peugeot 306 GTI6, Mini Coope S and now the APE.

I must say i am mightily impressed with it and apart from a few niggles which you get with any new car that just need a quick sort out, have had no probs. I now have the Sports Button on permanent!

    Luv it!

    Cheers Remy  :thumb:

Popped to the Bristol dealer this morning, took a test drive, not the most reassuring visit, sat in the car grabbed the passenger panic handle it came off in my hands  :o not confidence inspiring  ::)

Nice Dealership though, had a good poke around the Alfas too, was quite tempted by a 159 TI TBi but its all a bit grown up and not as cheeky as the Abarths.

Went in looking to buy a Grey APE but decided on the White with red stripes when I saw it in the showroom, to be fair they all look good, found the red APE surprisingly appealing in the daylight, in photos red doesn't come across so well. If I knew I could keep red looking good it might be my first choice :o

I'll be hacking up an down sh*te ridden country lanes the red will end up looking a bit rough plus red alfas/fiat never seem to look great a few years down the line all patchy and faded, the problems with Alfa red and them having to stop production some time last year to sort it doesn't instill me with confidence that the group have cracked it yet.

So just need to sort the money side of things next week, all being well I will be an owner before the month is out, its only taken me 2 years to make my mind up  :o ;D
