Multiair unit replacement Cost

Hi
Just bought an 2014 Abarth Punto Evo Supersport privately. The engine warning light came on (Fault code P1062-71 and the local Abarth Service centre replaced the oil and it worked fine for a day. I contacted the Abarth dealer who serviced the car in March. They said they told the owner that the multiair unit needed replacing. I feel a mug as they quote £1100 to fit a new one.  Thinking about using an independent garage if I can find one near Cardiff with the experience of Abarths to get it cheaper. Anyone know one or am I better using an Abarth service centre. Thanks

    I'm having the same problem!! Also been quoted the same price from Glynn Hopkin. Except I have also been told I nee a new Turbo as well?!! They replaced the oil etc for me too and exactly the same thing, worked ok for a day and that was it. Let me know if you get anywhere with this? I was looking at buying the parts myself and finding an independent garage to fit them for me.

    Can I ask if you don't mind, have the cars been serviced in accordance with Abarth schedules?

    Using official Selenia oil and genuine oil filter?

    The reason I ask is because the 'Multiair' system uses it's own engine oil to activate the valves so needs super clean correct oil to operate.

    Found Waterfall Garage in Bridgend which specialise in Italian cars and had replaced multi air units.
    Cost £1100 and no problems  2 weeks on. If the type of engine oil and quality is that important why does the service schedule have 20000 mile intervals?
