oil type
« on: December 18, 2013, 06:24:10 pm »
Hi all. Newby abarth punto evo owner here. Picked up car and it had a service.before I bought it. Got given excess metal can of oil and noticed was 10w/50. Thought mm this don't.seem right being a multiair engine. Book stated 5/40. So after some investigation turns out fiat/Abarths system recognises my.chassis number and reg as having a 1.4 tjet 170 hence why 10w/50 was put in. They had another punto evo abarth on.forecourt and this too brought up.the incorrect engine info and oil type on there system. Anyway oil had been changed and abarth are looking into the system. Just a heads up for anyone due or having a winter service

You'll realise after you're on here for a while that the majority of dealers know absolutely nothing when it comes to servicing. They're good at selling and that's where most of them draw the line. There are a couple that know what they're on about, but they're few and far between.

Consult the forum / handbook and all of the servicing info should be explained for you. When you schedule a service with a dealer (not advised), avoid any "18k services" or other packages they offer/recommend and just tell them exactly what you want changing, because quite frankly they have no clue :thumb:

Sounds like you're wise enough to know what's what anyway ;D
