Another Gearbox Question
« on: September 11, 2012, 07:50:50 pm »
Having read so many threads regarding the gearbox on the APE and with my APE being built as we speak (hopefully) and, with yet another thread very recently regarding this issue, is anyone aware if Abarth have resolved this issue at source? Ie, what is general age of APE`s developing problems

My gearbox had a re-build by the lovely people at Research Garage Nuneaton where they fitted new up-rated parts which are now standard. So you should have no problems at all. My box hasn't missed a change now in nearly 5K miles and is much much better than it was. 1st / 2nd can be a little hesitant when cold but that's a problem with many cars...fine when warm.

Does that mean that Abarth have sorted the gearbox problem for all current / future builds ?

They must have fixed it for sure. I think the problem was with 2010 cars.

I have a 2011 and as said before, a little notchy in  1 + 2 when cold but totally fine when warm. Many 6 speeds are like that  :)

Same with my 11 plate. Sticks going in to first sometimes but not the end of the world.

So, does that mean they have fixed the issue? Anyone got a 2012 model with any gearbox problems ?

Mine is sweet to be honest, a little sticky when cold but nothing unusual.
