I get a high pitched noise when setting off in first or reversing when the car has just started and is running from cold. After the engine has been running for a bit that noise goes away. I don't think it's anything to do with the clutch as I would have thought it would be doing it all the time.

I don't know if you experience similar problems? It could be the pipes from the turbo perhaps although that would cause a loss in boost  I would have thought.

With regard to your warranty - how old is your car. Did they extend the full manufacturers warranty? They will probably try to get out of any repairs by saying it is wear and tear

Yeah that's what another guy on another forum said it was with his but he described the same phenomenon as I have, ie reversing, not at high speed but with a bit of lead footedness. I demonstrated it to one of the mechanics at Thames Fiat but applying the handbrake hard and trying to reverse.

The car is a 2012 plate with 22k on the clock but I noticed it when I bought it at 18k. It's a full extended warranty but I'm not sure how it works because the service manager had to call the warranty 'comapany' to see what they say and they will investigate but if it's a perishable part then they won't hold themselves accountable. Hence the thread. I want to see how many other people have had this issue to try to determine the financial risk to get them to sort it. I appreciate all the imput
