Adrian Flux = Flux Direct = HCI = Woeful
« on: February 16, 2015, 05:53:44 pm »
So I just took out a policy with Flux Direct, who use a company called ERS to provide my cover. Initial quote was cheap, but scratching beneath the surface reveals what a shower of chancers this company are. Firstly, I receive e-mails asking that I provide everything from driver's licenses to scans of my logbook. I'd actually have to take a day off work to gather all the info they want and find a means of sending it to them. I had 14 days to provide this (the deadline was 13/2) however didn't get my proof of no claims from previous insurer in time, so I'm guessing they'll be throwing on a hefty charge - i'll await news of this tomorrow. After reading the small print I apparently might not be able to cancel the policy without getting stung for various admin fees, my hefty deposit and probably the sum total of the credit agreement. If only I'd searched just how bad this company was BEFORE taking out a policy. Appalling amount of 'proof' they need; treating customers like criminals from the outset isn't a great way to gain business. Surely all of this stuff would be supplied AFTER a claim has taken place? The company probably makes more out of admin fees and other hidden charges than they do out of policies.

i have had to supply all this info twice,(2yrs with AF) i even had to supply my marriage cert as my wife uses her maiden name on some docs.
1st time in over 40yrs of driving i have supplied this info, thought it was normal these days or is it.
On all applications it says insurance companies exchange data, so why dont they exchange proof of claims.

Like jackslade I have been driving for many years and was never asked for anything except proof of no claims until recently when I was changing vehicle or insurance companies they requested the info you have been asked for.

To be honest I just sent  it to them, not really a problem for my point of view, this was not with the company you are with by the way, it was with 2 national insurance providers though, with good reputations.

It just means if your friendly cybercriminal wanted to have access to thousands of identities they'd just need to hack one of these servers. If they can hack big globals they could get into a medium-sized insurance company...

Also they want confirmation of how I commute to work... even though the policy states that I use the car for commuting.

    Hi Jamie,

Firstly thank you for purchasing a policy via ourselves.

I am sorry to hear you have not had the smoothest start to the policy, we do request certain documents to back up information, especially if there has been discrepancies in previous quotes. This goes for most insurers, and it is done to ensure you are insured correctly.

If you can send me a PM with your policy number I can look into this for you and see if there is anything we can do to extend the timescale in which you have to return the proof of your NCB.

    Kind regards,
    Dan.

Pretty sure insurance companies don't share details. They just say that to push people to be honest and reduce risk. They do look at previous quotes so doing "what if" quotes can mean they don't believe you when it comes down to it.

Flux have got a good reputation but they are just a broker which means they can put you with some right crap companies (cheap albeit). Sticking with the big boys ain't always good either. Most brokers have a terrible claims procedure so I would avoid them.

Aviva, LV= and DL both have very good claims reputation. Don't see the point in getting the cheapest quote for the sake of £50.00.

Send them the details they need. If your not happy to- I wouldn't expect a full refund. Though maybe a good will gesture if they failed to mention how much data they will need to be able to offer the quoted price.
