agreed Value
« on: January 29, 2015, 03:27:12 pm »
Well I was going to write on here a praise and recommendation for this add on by Adrian Flux. But as they have left me feeling rather insulted and disgusted over it I am not.
Having taken out agreed values on my old classic mini in the past when I saw I could take one out on Bessie  I thought great!  I think She's  quite high spec’d and I really believed that to guarantee a good value  figure now would save me hassle in the future, god forbid, if I needed to make a claim.
However the guys there clearly have no clue, as I’m sure they think to value her as a basic model is acceptable!!!!!! No Way. Earth to A.F an  esseesse model with just about all the factory and dealers options is by no way basic!
At no point have they asked what the full  spec is,  had they I would have been happy to have listed them. I would have thought though that that bit was important in order to fully give a more accurate valuation.  The form only asked for upgrades and work done with receipts to prove what had been paid, that’s standard had that on the ones for the mini.  But as all her options were factory or dealer pre hand over there was nothing to tell or give them as nothing extra has been done. she is as she was on first hand over.
The value is £2000 lower than the requested, they didn’t even discuss it with me before issuing the cert!!! The value is not much above top book  for a basic 135 model,  which makes me ask myself why have I paid you £40 for a value that you would pay me even if I didn’t take out the cert!!! what’s the point in that. I thought it was there to protect the value of the car needed to replace it like for like! At 2 grand less I’m out of pocket. So unless they go back and rethink the price without me having to pay out even more money for a  indy valuation I’m cancelling the cert as it’s a waste of money, If I do that when the renewal comes round I’m looking for a new insurance company!!!!
Oh the 2 companies they suggested I use to get a Indy value from only do Classic and Vintage cars, I don’t think she’s covered by that just yet, maybe in say 20 years time?!

I hope you read this Dan as I would really like to talk to someone who knows about the A.V. as your Customer service girls so far have been  unknowledgeable and a little unhelpful.

PM me and I’ll pass on my details. As I say above unless your guys rethink the value I’ll have my money back as it’s a waste!!! And don’t recommend anyone on here wasting their money either.

OK time to follow this through.
After sending them the full dealers spec and the parkers guide price they have agreed with me and set the Agreed Value at £11,000.
So now i am happy to recommend it to anyone who is with Adrian Flux.
But i'll give you some advice so you can avoid the headaches i had with it.
Get either an Glasses or Parkers guide price before you start, both you can do on line and far better than the printed book copy.  The Parkers one i went with cost me £3.50 for 24 hours access, i was able to go through it several times even ran through Hubby's Alfa G for him to.
I found the form they use only asks for repairs or details of anything you've done to the car, no where does it ask for what the dealers extra's the car has. So i suggest you send all of them on a peice of extra paper. The parkers guide list these items as all adding value to to basic price. 17" 10 spoke alloy wheels, 17" 5 petal alloy wheels, sports leather upholstery, electric skydome opening sunroof, metallic paint, pearl paint, special paint, Blue & me Sat nav.
ticking 5 of those added 2 Grand to the price.
Unless you tell them they will work on it being a basic spec so you need to point out if it's not. So give them as much info on the car as you can and hopfully the price agreed will be a fair one and one your happy with.
I have to say the form is better suited to classic cars, done a few for the Mini's, but it doesn't really work for newer cars. It would be nice to think they may rethink it but i guess that's down to them.
Anyway For me now i know and they know she is worth the price she is insured for rather than market value.

I hope all this helps someone else who might be considering this option. Oh by the way it's valid for 2 years to.

I take out GAP insurance on mine, that way it, supposedly, pays out the difference between write off value and a brand new car :thumb:
