Renewal Issues
« on: September 30, 2014, 09:55:22 pm »
I got an email from Adrian Flux stating 3rd October is my renewal date, so I was shopping around and planning to call tomorrow.

Today I've received an email saying thanks for renewing and I've has £542 reserved out of my bank.

I'm getting quotes for under £400.

A little bit peeved right now and phone hours are only 9-5:30? For insurance?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the message.

We do offer an Automatic-Renewal with policies which is stated in your documentation, although if you can provide me with your policy number I can certainly arrange for our Renewals team to give you a call to resolve this & look into whether or not we can compete with your improved quotes you have been able to find?

I can confirm our opening hours for Renewals are 9AM-5.30PM Monday-Friday, and 9AM-4PM Saturday. Quotations are open until 7PM Mon-Fri and 9AM-4PM Saturday.

    Kind regards
    Dan.

I can appreciate the auto-renewal, but I figured this would be from renewal date, not prior.

I can try to call on my 30min lunch break, other than that, it will have to be tomorrow morning.

Will be watching this thread quite closely as my insurance is up for renewal in October and I was looking to give Flux a go this year..

Besides; you've got a 7-day cooling off period so don't worry about not getting your money back if you do cancel..  No guarantee it won't take 5 days to get the money back though ;)

Dan has been helpful so far and has PM'd me to get them to call tomorrow morning.

I have received 3 emails all stating renewal change, now at £395 refunding £124.XX

However, I still need to discuss the minor details of the renewal :)

    I'll update tomorrow.

Update: Received no call, gave it until 10am and then requested callback via website.

Upped my mileage from 7500 to 12000, slightly lowered car value and included a new exhaust (which I'll be getting soon enough)

    Still retained at £395.

They will refund me the difference etc they took from the start.

    In the end, I'm happy.

Did they mention the exhaust in particular, did it have an impact on the policy alone? Elephant want to charge me £193 for fitting a new one

Well I asked for the quote with a modified exhaust and they said definitely no change if just cosmetic.

But I said it could add a a few more BHP but I don't know specifically, so I said, 10BHP and they said they're happy to keep same price if it's like that and nothing excessive.

I'm mainly getting the new exhaust to replace the standard rotting one and some nice sounds.

Being of, shall we say, a slightly older generation, why is it that with almost all forms of insurance, it is almost guaranteed that you have to change to get a reasonable quote?  When I was in my prime (longer ago than I want to admit!) it was always about trying to keep existing customers. Now it appears to count for nothing and whether it's car, home or any other form of insurance, you just know that every year you are going to have to change to get a decent quote.  I still get quotes from Swinton (a broker!) that is hugely more expensive than I can get myself  As an ex financial adviser (amongst other things!), I would be mortifed if a client of mine 'phoned me to say that they could get better rates than I could!  I would really hate it!  T thing the world went wrong when I wasn't looking!
Nov 2012 A500, officiano red, 17' petals but otherwise standard (wife beats me severely about the head and body if I talk about customising but I did buy a logoed folding umbrella!) I just love it - the car that is! well, and the wife!!
