Abarth Blue&Me TomTom 2 has arrived
« on: September 05, 2012, 02:31:00 pm »
Apparently the Abarth version of the Blue&Me TomTom 2 has arrived, at least in Germany

Have a look at this thread:  http://www.abarth-forum.de/modelle/500-abarth-abarth-500c/elektrik-elektronik-a500-a500c/abarth-tomtom-navi-jetzt-verfuegbar-t9528/  Google Translate is your friend ;)

Anyone getting one?

There's no slot in the dash on RHD

The slot is just for charging.  All the other functions are via Bluetooth.  But I see that it's a more justified buy for LHD.  But, this is no longer just a UK forum, so plenty of LHD cars on here.

Why would you want one of these when there's no slot in the dash?  The slot may be just for charging but on a RHD car how would you charge it without the slot?
How typical, Fiat produce a top-of-the range model (Abarth) and don't supply an adapter so that the 'proper' sat nav can work.
If there was either a dedicated RHD Abarth Sat Nav or an adapter for the LHD unit I'd have one.

Just got my 2011 Fiat Blue&Me Tomtom working on my new 2016 Abarth 595 Turismo. It pairs via Bluetooth and all functions (Music/Phones/Tripmeter etc) are working correctly. A new item called 'Satnav' has appeared in the B&M menu which takes the Tomtom directly to the navigation screen. This has taken me 3-4 days to figure it out - to say I'm chuffed is an understatement   ;D ;D ;D :thumb:

They work really well once set up, if you have tft screen you can get turn directions displayed. The media player control is also really good

What version blue and me have you got? I have a 2015 595 comp and i can't get the blue and me tomtom 2 to pair! I have downloaded the latest version ( 10) about 4 weeks ago. Do i need to up date it again or change the update some how?

I've recently gone down a different sat nav route, got a Tomtom 6100, I can attach it to the instrumen panel , I can just see the speedo and revs to about 80 mph but the rest of the view behind the steering wheel is the sat nav.

A near perfect alternative to the fancy new screens in Audi TT :thumb:

Agreed Mgbudd - the in-dash directions are another added bonus that I was unaware of.

@Folgore - I have v10 too....but this is not the reason why you are unable to pair with your TT2.
There are 4 versions of the B&M software (all currently at v10) They are 'Blue&Me', Blue&Me Map' 'Blue&Me Tomtom' & 'Blue&Me Tomtom2'. The default version of the software for UK vehicles is 'Blue&Me' only, I assume this is because we don't have the 68R dashpoint that they have in Europe.
We need the B&M TT2 software and you can get this via the configurator at blueandme.net by tricking it into thinking you have a Euro version of the software
I'm guessing that you're familiar with the updater as you've already used it, but here's what you need to do:
Format an old USB stick to FAT32.
Run the configurator and unzip to your stick - place this into your car USB and it will create an XML file.
Go back to your PC and edit the XML file. Your serial key will probably be '97FC0' - this means you have the English version 10 of 'Blue and Me' for a 2nd generation A500.
    Change the serial to 'ABC80' (English, 'Blue&Me TomTom2', 2nd generation A500)
Upload the edited XML into the configurator and it will download the requested version.
Reformat your USB stick, unzip the files onto it and plug it back into your car.
Wait until it's finished and then pair your TT2 - that's it  :thumb:

I found the car is sensitive to certain USB drives which is why I eventually used an old 1gig stick. Newer/larger USB sticks were giving me USB Error 10 messages which means the update has failed - just keep persevering!!

I also had to disconnect the battery for a few mins after changing the software to reset the system. It sounds longwinded but it's well worth doing. If you (or anyone else) want a copy of the 33meg zip file, PM your email address and I'll send them over.

    Cheers
    ScubaDeano

Me too.  Don't be too hasty taking out the USB.  The final stage update takes about 5 mins.  It'll display 'update completed' (or similar).  I took it out too early and it reverted to Italian.  So just redid it.  Save copies of the files at different stages so it's easy to back-track.
