Title: Blue and me meltdown
Post by: davidj1888 on June 08, 2009, 09:23:50 pm
Hi all, got my first flash drive yesterday and promply downloaded my music collection onto it and plugged it into the car.
Everything seemed perfect other than the, genre artist function not working too well, but I ve put this down to most of the songs being downloads  and possibly not containing all the relevant tags the blue and me requires.... I  set the system to shuffle and it seemed to be fine.

On starting the car tonight I found I could not skip tracks, and when attempting to access the voice command menu nothing happened and on further investigation the phone button will no longer work??? so it seems to be f*&^%ed

any ideas anyone??

Try another stick with just a few tracks on if you have one.  If you don't, try shuffling the tracks around on it (delete a couple, add a couple) on your PC before re-inserting it.

Re-insert it with the ignition off, turn the ignition on and give it time to rebuild its index before starting the engine or doing anything with the menus/phone.

Let us know what happens.

Cheers Alex, I'll give that a try tomorrow and see what happens... I've just started using the B&M so no doubt there'll be a few more posts :thumb: and I don't think my iPhone helps matters much though it does pair just no phonebook but that's another thread

If nothing else works you will have to disconnect the battery -VE leade for a couple of minutes to do a full reset.  I have had to this a cople of times now.

Welcome to Blue and ME!

just no phonebook

You may need to send your contacts individually via bluetooth like a fair few of the Nokia Smartphones have to.

Welcome to Blue and ME!

Make sure the car is left to rest for at least 20mins before disconnecting the battery. :-[

Maybe the dealers should install a reset button in the dash like all computers have

i m going to try and reset the blue and me as its still not working can someone confirm the procedure...

1/ Turn off car and leave for 20 minutes.... why do you have to do this? i ve seen it mentioned but im not sure why it has to be left for 20
2/ disconnect battery... is it the positive first or the negative as i always thought it was the + first as most cars are earthed through the -
3/ I assume i will loose all info and the settings will go back to factory

 ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

I also haveno idea why you have to leave it for 20 mins - I didnt (and it didnt seem to cause any problems)!

You will only need to disconnect the -ve terminal, its a simple clamp and you dont need any tools.  Make sure you leave it for 5 mins or so and then reconnect.

I loved blue & me in my Fiat 500. It's a sack of donkey s**** in my Abarth. How can the same system differ so much in terms of functionality between cars?

Come on Joe, its not that good, but seriously, does your phone behave differently in the A500?

It's not my phone that's been the problem (well it is as I upgraded to a C905 that doesn't work very well), but the main issue has been with the USB stick. It worked fine in my Fiat, and when I swapped over to the Abarth it became somewhat temperamental. Some days it works, some days there's only one track, and some days the lady in the dashborad says 'no media found'. Taking the USB in and out and shoving it in a pc and moving files around seems to be a quick fix but then it goes again...

However, I received a phonecall from the helpful service chap at Bauer M and he had a chat to me about the Blue and Me. Seems like it's just a bit 'buggy'. He said they could update the software or something, but looking at reports from other owners on here it doesn't seem to make much difference.

I've just had a thought though. I had eco:drive installed on my USB in the Fiat, and when I think back, before I installed it I had problems in the Fiat too. Once eco:drive was installed I had faultless playback from the USB stick. So, as sadistic as it may seem, eco:drive is going back on the USB and I'll try it in the Abarth.

Is there any logical reason as to why eco:drive would make a difference?

I shall report back.

I have ED on my stick and I've only had the no media thing 4 times now, although after the first time it will keep playing other tracks but I can't manually change folders.
