Blue & Me "Map"
« on: May 15, 2017, 12:08:35 am »
Can anyone shed some light on this? Our 500 comes with the standard Blue & Me system. I have read about this "map" option which as far as I can figure is a means to connect or dock a satnav device with the system and in some photos there seems to be a special "dock port" for the nav screen.

Don't seem to have any such socket in our car and wonder if anyone knows if this can be retro fitted &/or what the options are for NAV with the Blue&Me system as I'm not keen on aftermarket systems...

Mine did this and I had a faulty usb  port,  replaced it and everything's fine now.

Huh? Your answer makes no sense. I'm not having an issue, I'd just like to know if the "MAP" port for TomTom can be retro fitted.

Do you mean using one of these?

YES! I don't have one in my car - but would like one - how difficult to retro fit?

I have not fitted one myself yet but as long as there is sufficient room, about 100mm, beneath where you want it, it'll fit anywhere.

It just needs a switched live and earth connection to power up the TomTom.

It should be connected to CANBUS (car's computer) if you want full functionality albeit not essential like low fuel warnings and subsequent search for the nearest gas station, eco driving gauge and some other I can't remember now.

Has anybody seen anybody retrofit this charging port for Tomtom?

TBH I think I have gone past it. I have the iPhone hardwired into the car (well semi-hardwired anyway) on a Brodit A pillar mount and that doubles as my nav unit.
