BLUE & ME SATNAV MAP UPGRADE!
« on: February 23, 2011, 07:31:18 pm »
Hi all,  :D

I was getting out of my car yesterday and the dash lit up (before the 500 logo comes up) told me that a new map update is available from my dealer.

I have the built in "binnacle" sat nav, not the tom tom one which fixes to the dash.

Has anyone upgraded their maps recently, if yes, how and how much!

Thanks for any info you can supply.

Cheers. Greg   :thumb:

How does the car know when to update?  Does it have a built in abarth sim card or something like that?

It doesn't have its own Sim, its far more likely its a timed thing like the service counter.

    I'd try here:

Hi, thanks for the reply. I upgraded to 5.5 when I was at the dealer recently (to enable my I Touch to work with the system). I asked them to look at updating the map too but they said I could do it online, strange as the car tells me to go to the Dealer!

I think there should be clearer info about this as the two dealers I have dealt with; Merridian in Portsmouth and Marylebone London didn't seem to know much about the upgrades.

    Any thoughts anyone?

    Cheers. Greg

They probably know nothing about the update as there is probably about a dozen cars in the U.K. with the Nav system and very little has been communicated to the dealers about the system.
Not always the dealers to blame

Sure, I can appreciate that, Merridian in particular were superb, cannot fault them. I just find it frustrating that no one seems to know the answer to my question. As a customer I am pretty proactive and can find info myself but the satnav map update question seems to be tricky!  :'(

I've got the Blue & Me Nav system & I upgraded middle of last year. Its done online here and according to the site its gonna cost you all bar £100, mine cost me £85 with a special Fiat discount as I had registered on the site when i got the car (and they were running a sale at the time :) ).

Good to know the 5.5 update works though and in english, was tempted to download & install it myself but have held off following Alex's disclaimer and the fact that the instructions are in Italian only.  ::)
