Fiat's Blue&Me upgraded with new software and adaptor
Fiat's innovative Blue&Me system has been upgraded to make the technology even more widely available for mobile phone users and music lovers.
The company has introduced new software for the popular communications and entertainment unit, which will offer improved functionality and enable greater compatibility with an increasing number of mobiles phones.
Similar infotainment systems are usually reserved for more high-end luxury cars, but Blue&Me is now available as standard on most Fiat cars.
Fiat owners can discover more about the new development and access the free-to-download software (version 5.4) from:
In addition, Fiat has also launched a new media player adaptor which has been developed to allow use of iPod and iPhone products through Blue&Me without changing the original format to MP3. The unit will only work on cars updated with the new version 5.4 software.
The iPod and iPhone adaptor costs £71.66 and is available from Fiat's 157-strong UK network of dealers.
You can also now buy the adaptor from the Abarthisti Shop (http://www.abarthisti.co.uk/shop/) for just £66.99.

Just to say I've been quoted £62.80 including VAT for the adapter by two dealers in the past week, the online price on the Fiat Accessories site seems to be marked up.

Completed the upgrade to 5.4 last night and my phone has successfully paired.
Not lost connection yet but it's early days. I'm hoping for the best.

I checked on the Fiat website and their stock was showing '-15'. Asked in a branch of The Scottish Dealer in Dundee and got no sense so fired up good ol' eBay on the phone and ordered one from Sturgess in Leicester. Expected on 24th of September. :-\

Interesting.........looking at the compatible list my 6500 slide is listed but listed on grey rather than bold black........does this mean it is isnt might be compatible? id be loathed to update if it isnt as my B & M is working perfectly

The documentation is very clear. If your phone is working fine DO NOT do the upgrade to 5.4.

Do you have the N95? I know someone else on here was struggling with it dropping the N95 connection.
Just wondering whether the latest download will cure my woes.
I don't have an N95 but I did have the same connection issue and the new firmware has solved the problem. I've not lost a connection since the upgrade. So much for the fool that was blaming our phones.

To give people a bit of confidence in this - I've been using the adaptor since it came out (2 months now), with the update and my Nokia phone (an old one).
No problems at all.

Bought the adaptor from the dealership on the day I picked my car up (1st Sept). It has failed to work for two days in a row. I can get the power running through it so I know the issue is with the adaptor. I will keep you informed.

Hi,
I am trying to install the 5.4 upgrade and am getting a a USB 10 message error. My car is a 500 and was bought in June. Any ideas what the problem is would be appreciated.

Howdy. I think error 10 indicates that your car already has v5.4 installed.

tried the install and got the 10 error, so its already got 5.4. Great. That means its not working for some other reason :/

Is there a cheaper way of getting one of these or something aftermarket. Not too keen on paying £67 for a bit of wire with PVC coating. Is it so expensive because of the box? Pretty poor that these aren't included with the car imo

Its not just a wire Mouse, its like a dongle that changes the information that your I-phone sends out and translates it into a language that your car can understand. I dont know of an aftermarket solution but they may well be available. They are not included with the car becausse not everyone has an I-Phone, it would be a huge waste of money on Fiat groups behalf (dont forget its the same for the Fiats and Alfa's) if they supplied the unit with every vehicle. It is as much Apples fault that the I-phone isn't completely compatible with the car but at least Fiat group have put a solution in place.

Ok, I am probably being stupid. However, I have an iphone 4; I have an adaptor; however, the car does not know there is anything plugged in....Ideas? I've done the "turn on and off" thing and the "disconnect and reconnect" thing and the "press random buttons" thing all to no avail...... ???

I just got my A500 earlier this week (one of the earlier chassis numbers)and I bought the adapter for my iPhone 3GS but the Blue&Me voice keeps telling me there is no bluetooth phone connected ??? So I guess it's the same kind of problem. I have the bluetooth function on the phone on and it is physically connected by cable to the adapter, tried the turning off and on solution but to no avail - solutions anyone?! However I do love the car but this is driving me crackers >:( Also how do I find out what version of the Blue&Me I have? :-\

The car plugs into usb for ipod/application audio only... if you want bluetooth/phone you have to pair it via the menus... go into user pairing, it should give you a pin. open settings -> bluetooth on the iphone and it should find handsfree or blue&me, tap it, enter pin, should ask to copy contacts... done.

Yes, hit the phone button then select settings and user pairing, it'll give you a pin, then on your iphone go onto settings > General> bluetooth and select blue&me thenenter the Pin :thumb:

Anyone noticed they don't get "Accessory connected" come up on their screen when they open the music app? I feel as though I've been freed from the clutches of navigating the media player using the steering wheel. Such a joy!

Thank you all for your help updated my car today and now all works great in the car I can listen my iPod via blue&me with the adapter ..... ;D
