Post by: Tha_Ben on June 08, 2010, 10:36:04 pm
Just so you all know, All seems ok with the Gold Master version (with iPhone 3GS).. only had issues at beta 1.

Cant see too much changing between now and final, seems quite stable... enjoy!

Found a bug!

uploaded a movie onto the iPhone 3GS 4.0GM and blue&me stopped working!

B&M would start playing music, play some static then flick back to the radio, not sure if this was a once only type thing or not... will post more when I can be arsed to play, for now my iphone only has music on.

Peace.

Next update will be if the iPhone 4 works :D

Balls - today when I plug it into B&M the music starts but then cuts out after 5 seconds or so. I knew I should have waited to upgrade. I may have to rollback if I can't workout what's happening.

Had a look on the Fiat forum and there's a number of people that have this problem. So my advice is not tom upgrade until it's fixed. I thought that you could downgrade again, but now I'm not so sure about this either. I'm quite peed off as I like to listen to music when I'm driving and now I can't u till fiat/apple fix this.

Title: Re: iOS 4.*/5.*/6.*, please check for latest version discussion

I've fixed my problems by resetting the phone. Use Settings - General - Reset - Reset All. But be aware that this does irritating things like loose you wifi and cookies and turns the bloody keyboard clicker back in. All fixable of course.

Hi (me back again!  :D),

I updated my 3GS to IOS4 and found the following issues so far:-

1) The BluTooth associations were unstable so deleted them all and re-created them and now all okay.

2) The email default SMTP server got re-arranged to another one I had listed so had to set it back again and now okay.

3) I have the B&M dongle to play music through the stereo. I found that initialy this would only work for around 4-5 seconds and then cut back to the radio. I unplugged the unit, reset the iPhone and switched car off and started again and all seemed to work okay for half a day and now the problem has come back again!  ???

The third item above is still an issue so if anyone knows a solution I'd be very interested!  :(

Paula
No I didn't change any settings. However the reset I performed was actually switching Off properly. I shall try a 'proper' reset now and try again as I have seen in earlier posts that this has been successful.
Title: Re: iOS 4.*/5.*/6.*, please check for latest version discussion
Post by: richbrowne on June 24, 2010, 01:05:10 pm
Yep it worked.

I performed a Rest All (Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings) and it now seems to hold a connection with the B&M dongle! :thumb:

PITA that it needs this though as you have to change a load of settings back again to how 'one' had the iPhone setup. Worth it though.

After upgrading to OS4, my iPhone would also not play music more than 5 secs before cutting back to the radio. Instead of doing a full iphone reset, I reset network settings only through the general tab - settings - reset - reset network.

This solved the problem (well, to date) and have managed to keep my other details on my iphone intact.

Hope that helps.

Paula

paula, if you iphone isw backed up through itunes, then just click to reset through itunes, then once reset set it up as a new phone and then restore from last back up, sometimes this way round works better than reseting the phone and restoring from backup works better.

a soft reset of holding down the power button and home buttom and keeping holding until the screen goes back and you see the white apple logo normally closes everything out and puts the phone back to normal.

aslong as you keep your phone backed up then really you shouldn't lose anything.

I have a mac and mobileme, so everything syncs apart from music and apps, so I still plug it into the mac every week for a sync and backup.

It's pretty much sorted now - basically it was a case of getting blue and me working again as the radio football/inane chatter was doing my head in :) I suspect restoring the settings from iTunes would just have brought the problem back.

It would be useful to know which setting it was that iOS4 changes that messes up Blue and Me so that people could just change that one - sounds like it's something in network settings.

Mine worked fine without any fiddling - both when I upgraded my 3GS to iOS4 and then when I got an iPhone4 a few days later.

I must be the lucky one!

newtork is only for 3G, data, location etc etc.. I think it would be the bluetooth part. Unpairing and repairing could be the answer, I just tap the blue&me under bluetooth and it connects, most of the time it does it automatically. Also I found when driving to goodwood, where along alot of the country roads and signal was bad, it totally dropped off and wouldn't connect, but that was due to no signal from the phone.

the tomtom handsfree kit has a boosted 3G device within it, so you may get a better signal, but not sure its worth the £100 just for the handsfree kit  :o

Unlikely to be the Bluetooth as the problem was when the player was connected via the USB cable. To repeat the music started when connected and then stopped after a few seconds. This was cured by a full settings reset but shakman fixed it with just a network settings reset. Not everyone had the problem as evidenced By simer's post above.

The network reset seems to have worked - for now at least B&M seems to be communicating again. I just hope it doesn't become a regular task.

All other poor Iphone sufferers...
I apologise to everyone else in advance. You are probably completely sick of hearing about this.
I bought my new car a couple of weeks ago (chassis no is below the level of the upgrade to B&M), I also bought one of the adaptors for my 3GS iphone. They worked perfectly with B&M until Monday when apple uploaded IOS4 to it.
It started playing for a few seconds then cut to radio, advice from the very helpful Paula (go into General - press reset etc) worked once, but now even that won't work.
Plays perfectly from a memory stick, but that doesn't contain any music I have downloaded from itunes as it is a different format.
I have just tried to upload the 5.5 upgrade, but it comes up with first error 10, then error 20.
Apple were absolutely no help whatsoever (typically)
Any suggestions?
Nick

Nick. The only time I've managed to replicate that issues was when I had movies/videos synod from iTunes on my idevice.

I could replicate the problem on a 3GS running ios 4.0 and an iPhone 4.

To fix it I restored the phone to 4.0 using iTunes. Set up as a new phone and only sync music.

5.5 has resolved the issue for me on all my devices, might be worth a try tho?

bad news guys....

all of a sudden this afternoon, having had my iphone plugged in and playing from the playlist it suddenly cut out and returned to playing what was in the CD.

yet the iphone shows as charging and if I press the phone button I can go back to the blue&me media and try again, about 1-2 mins later and same thing.

need to test further, soft reset phone, check connections etc etc

could be that Rory is rather hot in this 31c heat and just playing up ::)

Ben,
thanks for the suggestion, I will have a go.
It does seem to me that Apple are once again insisting that you will use "their" phone only in the manner they approve.
Their world domination attempt to convert everyone to Mac's just irritates me.
Mine is already running version 4.0 on the phone, and I assume the fact that I get an error 10 when I try the 5.5 update on my car means that I already have that.
I do however have videos etc synced on it, so that is an avenue worth eliminating.

Cheers

Hi
Had a call from FIAT UK today.
The official FIAT line with regard to iphones etc is that they no longer work with B & M following the latest apple upgrade - IOS4. This apparently has come from their technical people.
Fiat also have no plans to upgrade the software at this time to fix the issues.
I know that some of you have managed to make it work, but mine refuses.
Can't say I am happy about it... :thumbd:

Cheers

i have an iphone 4 now and it synced no probs, plus the music all works fine.

couple of questions, have you got videos on ur phone? if so take them off, people have mentioned they cause problems, also do a hard soft reset on phone, you can do this by holding the power button and home button at same time and wait till the phone screen goes black and white apple appears and then release and it will boot up. also try deleting user data on B&M and repair phone.

how old is your car? it may need the 5.5 software.

maybe John would be best answering the official fiat line on this..

hope this helps

Post by: Tha_Ben on July 14, 2010, 12:51:37 am
I cannot for one minute believe that fiat would not be looking into fixing any issues with iphones and B&M,

B&M is used (as far as im aware) in Alfas, Abarths, Fiats.. thats allot of cars! also the iPhone is one of the biggest selling handsets, many manufacturers are looking to incorporate iphones features, BMW have just announced the continued support with iPod out connectivity (google it ;) )...

my iPhone 3GS (iOS 4.0) and my iPhone 4 work flawlessly with B&M 5.5 on my AGP. None of the issues mentioned on this forum I am able to replicate...

contacts not syncing - mine are, they sync from 2x Exchange accounts to my iDevice then through bluetooth to B&M
Audio playing - my main issue that I could find was fixed in B&M 5.5
Navigon not playing audio through the speakers - mine does, when set to 'Media Player' and playing items from ipod.app

It might be worth the people with issues removing the user pairings from B&M (cant remember the exact setting, but its in the B&M menu on the car), restoring the phone with iOS 4.0, setting up as a new phone (rather then a backup) and trying again...

Sorry Nick, I have to agree with Tha Ben.

the person you had the call from was probably feeding you a line because they couldn't get your problem solved.. I have had so many different convos with o2, each person giving me a different story, lack of training I put it down too.

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies.
I too find it difficult to beleive that the two are not compatible. I don't beleive there isn't a solution. This is just what Fiat UK have said to me down the phone, and I also know that mine doesn't work.
I do have videos on it which I use a lot so wouldn't want to lose that functionality. I will however try it without them sycned just to see if it works.
Mine is a 3GS rather than an iphone 4, whether that makes a difference I don't know.
The chap who called me was called Jamal, and works for Fiat UK. He said the answer had come directly from their technical dept. How true that is I don't know.
Just to ensure we are all on the same page with this though -
My phone itself works perfectly. My contacts have scripted across.
The issue is with my music. It starts to play then reverts to radio saying "No source available".
I have tried a complete restore which didn't work, and a soft reset which did work temporarily. It now doesn't.
I have got 5.5 running on my blue and me.
I guess the only option left is restoring it as a new phone. Do I lose all of my downloads if I do that?

The most irritating part really is that I bought the adaptor which worked for just 2 days, before the apple update. I now have all my music on a memory stick which works perfectly to be honest.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Nick

It is worth remembering how small the list of officially compatible phones is compared to the market place and phones that on the whole run quite happily with B&M. When you phone somewhere with a compatibility issue they will check and reel off the company line of what is and isn't on it, if it isn't it 'tough luck'.

Nick, how old is your car? check this thread about 5.5, https://www.abarthforum.co.uk/blue-and-me/blueme-updated-to-5-5/ (https://www.abarthforum.co.uk/blue-and-me/blueme-updated-to-5-5/)

if you do a reset through itunes aslong as your iphone is backed up you won't lose anything, you then set it up as a new phone, it will then sync everything that is on itunes.

Lastly, take it down to an abarth dealer, they will show you how to get it working  :thumb:

Hi,
Just re synced it without video. I will give that a try first.
It is new and only three weeks old (that is when I bought it) but the chassis number is lower than the number they started fitting the upgraded hardware.
I have tried upgrading the software to 5.5 but I got an error message 10, which from reading other threads means that I am on the latest version already?
I will try the new phone reset if that doesn't work.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
Much appreciated.

Just to confirm, I have tried it without the adaptor - nothing
Although I did buy it within the last month, the chassis number is 4 something, and the hardware upgrade starts at 5 something.
Doing a complete "new phone" restore now. Fingers crossed.

Thanks again.

ok I had this the other day..

when it reverts to radio, is the phone showing still as charging? I found that the iphone connector was a bit lose, try using the proper iphone charger cable, put that into the Adapter and then try it. Could be a loose wiring,  I thought the usb extender that came with the adapter looked a bit flimsy

ok deep breath, funnily enough Ajay just rang me and we spoke about the blue&me and iphones

so... he said he has an older 500 fiat, and has upgraded the software as and when the updates have come out, now with 5.5 on his 3GS he doesn't need the adapter, but he also said a colleague has a 500 and the thing cuts back to the radio after 5 secs.

this leads me to believe its

A) something on the iphone
B) the user data on the car isn't deleted.

I would try this as follows :

full reset on iphone, set up as new phone, and manually select 1 itune song to put onto phone, plus contacts. go into the car and delete ALL user data and then pair the new phone and try and play the 1 song you have put on iphone, if this works it means some of your songs could be corrupted or are not AHEM " official " DRM itunes.

if that doesn't work with the adapter, then try without the adapter. Plug the phone into the blue&me before turning the key. If the car is recognising the contact phonebook then I would suggest it is not at fault of the blue&me but the problem lies with the phone, check ipod settings under settings/ipod, make sure the shake to shuffle is OFF, sound check is OFF, EQ is OFF, volume limit if OFF, Lyrics & Podcast info is ON.

I wouldn't give up, if it still doesn't work, then I would take it to an abarth dealer and let them have a go

Hi,
all good ideas. I will give them a try.
I have no doubt that it is something on the phone rather than B & M.
The phone does still show as charging.
The delete of user data sounds worth trying, as does changing the settings on the phone for music.

I will let you know

Thanks

I don't see how this is possible as the change to the new models has a 'hardware' change.  All the software in the world cant spawn new chips and wires!

Hi,
just tried all of the suggestions with the exception of going to the dealership.
Nothing worked...
I will try the dealership next time I am heading up the country.

Thanks for all the ideas, and the patience!

I feel for you. It is very strange that we seem to be getting a range of responses to ios4 with our phones from no problems, problems fixable with different levels of reset through to apparently non responsible. I would have expected fairly consistent problems and fixes. Seems you got to sh*tty end of the bell curve.

It's worth frequently googling your problem as there will be someone else out there with it and they might get a fix. I'm afraid modern customer support does seem to be geared towards getting you off the phone rather than fixing the problem

Hi Paula,
thank you.
It does seem odd. There has to be a common conflict somewhere...we all have the same equipment ( be they 3SG or 4's), and the same software...

the problem must be with the phone somewhere and a setting. did you try the one song idea?

also I know it sounds weird but are ALL your app upto date? Alot of app software makers have been busy upgrading their apps now the new OS4.0 is out, I know sounds stupid, but something like that could cause a conflict

ok here are my settings on my iphone, try the settings and see if that makes a difference

wifi on
notifications - off
sounds - everything on except keyboard clicks
  General -
  enable 3G - on
  cellular data - on
  data roaming - on
bluetooth on (  ::) )
location services on
auto lock 1 min
passcode lock off
restrictions off
  ipod
  shake to shuffle off
  sound check off
  EQ off
  volume limit off
  lyrics and podcast info ON
  start playing 'from beginning
  closed captioning off

now also, do a full rest of phone through itunes, then proceed as new phone setup and ONLY sync music and not VIDEOS.

then get into car, DON"T PLUG IN PHONE YET, go to settings and delete all USER DATA, do it 3 times to make sure all is gone, then switch off and plug the phone in, and turn the key ONCE so dashboard lights up, then try through steering wheel controls.

one last thing, the cable itself, have you tried another iphone cable? this will eliminate the case of a faulty cable with loose wiring

good luck  :thumb:

Just the bars update that apple mentioned the other day - new algorithm to work out signal and signal bars are bigger/taller (based on AT&T's method). That is it.

there is no new modem firmware (baseband) or other OS features.

iOS 4.1 will provide that.

Software will not fix the reception issue. It's hardware. No software in the world can fix a hardware error.

They are looking for a proximity sensor fix for 4.1.

Free cases for all iPhone 4 users tho...

Having spent for bloody ever updating the iPad in the hope that they've fixed it dropping wifi regularly (looks promising so far), I couldn't face doing the iPhone. That and I don't quite trust it to not stff up b&m again. Only got a 3GS so don't need taller signal bars trying to pretend it's better signal - honestly what smart arse thought of that one "the signal's crap - let's change the way we display it go make it appear better"  :banghead:

Almost In the same league as "the money's run out - I know let's completely reorganise the NHS"

Blackberry 9700
HTC Hero

What's it doing?

The problem that some of us had with iOS4 was that it was playing for a few seconds and then cutting out - this was fixed by resetting the settings.

I've been putting off upgrading because I was worried that I would have problems again.

4.0.1 I have had an issue with (flicks back to media) could try to following:

reset B&M by disconnecting the battery for 5+ mins.

if that does work, restore phone back to original settings through itunes, setup as new phone, sync music/apps etc... should then work.

I to had dis-connect prob with os 4 software......what happens now is......if i up-date on i tunes, say new tune's etc.....then connect to b&m....same old 5 seconds dis-connect.....tried reset on phone, lost all net works etc, but worked on B&M .....until added new files in i-tunes...then probblem back......but if i soft re-set....push "square&top"...then connect to B&M...all works fine....no need for major re-set....there-fore try.....when you up-date from i-tunes for any reason...just soft re-set and that sorted it for me...good luck..!!!!

All this talk had me worried, upgraded to iPhone 4 last week from iPhone 3G, loaded up iOS4.01 straight away and only got round to making it talk to the Abarth yesterday

Deleted the users, paired the iPhone and copied the contacts. Got in this morning and tried a voice call, worked straight away. Plugged in the iPod lead and it worked just the same as usual (through the adaptor). Still at Blue&Me 5.4, guess I'll play safe and stay there

Only thing I have noticed is when someone phones me, the Blue&Me display in the audio picks it up first, the speedo display catches up a few seconds later when the phone starts to ring (only rings through the phone, not the audio -but as it mutes the music, not an issue)

Wasn't sure if my phone book was transferring or not, the car asked if I wanted to but should I be able to then see all the users on the speedo? But voice dialling works and displays who I am calling, and receiving calls displays who is calling me when in the phone book so guess it works fine enough for me

Apple lists proximity fixes (ip4), Bluetooth fixes (all), fixes for the 3G (speed etc), ability to take HDR photos (this is cool!) game center is included (apples sort-of version of xbox live)... etc etc.

Saw this report and wondered if anyone has tried 4.1 yet?

"According to reports in an Apple Discussions thread and in a separate but similar thread on the PruisChat forums, a number of iPhone and iPod touch users are suffering from in-car USB audio playback issues after the installation on iOS 4.1. Affected users report hearing “scratching” or “crackling” noises when playing back music from an iOS 4.1 device over a vehicle’s built-in USB interface, with one Ford Fusion owner likening the effect to listening to a “scratched CD.” The problem does not appear to be limited to any one brand or major manufacturer, and several users have noted that audio playback via the headphone port or Bluetooth works fine. Notably, one user claims that unpairing his Bluetooth connection allowed audio to play over USB without issue, suggesting the problem may be related to having Bluetooth on and or paired while attempting playback."

I haven't either but if the problem is as widespread as the Apple's own support forums would seem to suggest then an update to 4.1 must be on the cards at some point. (4.1 battery issues top the list of new problems - both in terms of posts and views)
Title: Re: iOS 4.*/5.*/6.*, please check for latest version discussion

4.1 is fine plain and simple.

with regard to battery issues, you have to look at what apps that person is running and turned on, I find some apps like foursquare is a good battery drainer as it constantly is checking your location, alot of these apps that require notifications or location will hog the battery. I normally have them turned off.

my battery on the iphone4 with 4.1 is running about 2 days and I use the phone alot.

you also have to consider that the apple forum is moan central, anything in the slightest of other than utopia and they bitch and moan. You have to take into account the total handsets out there against the number of complaints and I think you will find as Steve Jobs pointed out it is less than 1%.

I did the deed and upgraded last night. It lost about 5% battery over 8 hours on standby (with wifi & bluetooth still turned on) so not bad at all.

Still to try Blue&Me

Bloody apple stuffed up my iPhone b&m connection. Had to reset it twice in the last couple of days - once after upgrading iTunes (iTunes wouldn't recognise it and it also stopped working with b&m) and then behold I upgraded the os to 4.1 something and it was buggered on b&m again. A network reset has got it communicating but now it insists on playing through my albums in order rather than recognise that it is shuffling. I am mightily sick of the first tune on the first albumn. I preferred it when it was obsessed with the Exponents.  . . .  ???

I had trouble pairing the phone a few times in the beginning, now it works seamlessly even without upgrading the b&m drivers (never did that). The trick was to pair the phone and wait until "o2 - uk" shows on the speedo display before plugging the phone in the first time.

Sometimes I get the audio pops and scratches (and that is why I haven't ditched my old ipod for good just yet). Would a b&m update to 5.5 definitely fix that?

Also, has anybody managed to get the following to work through b&m:
1) reading sms message
2) selecting genius playlists
3) handsfree skype

Reading SMS wont work due to the bluetooth stack Apple use.
Genius playlists - the only time ive ever tried them, they showed (this was however a LONG time ago pre iOS 4.x)
hands free skype - if the app doesnt support audio routing via bluetooth, no chance. The VOIP software I use (acrobits softphone) does allow this, and it works nicely.

Scrap that, a few days in it seems to have some issues (yes, i know, its beta)

answering a call doesn't seem to work all the time - making a call does.. so not the end of the world to call someone back...
skipping tracks through music (its no longer iPod) seems to be very sluggish

luckily i still have an iPhone 4 on 4.3.3 so ill be going back to that from tomorrow i think...

decided to try 5.0 beta 4...

Its a lot more stable then what I've seen so far, iPhone 4 is still a little laggy in places but overall, for an un-optimized os its nice and stable.

B&M is playing nicely with this version as well...

One strange thing i noticed with my 4S was, when i had a youtube video open if i connected it to B&M it played that instead of any tracks. Had to then go into the track listing and select play anything.

Working fine aside from that though.

It would be nice if it would play from open applications - then I could listen to Internet radio on Radiobox in the car. Mind you I suspect that the signal wouldn't be good enough - I use it on my lunchtime walk ok, but it must be the only place in the midlands with 5 bars of 3G coverage.

It's ish.

It requires a dataconnection to download the maps, it won't cache them on the device.

3d view is limited to a few places - Cupertino (apple hq) Sydney etc - don't think anywhere in the uk, guessing apple will be cracking. On with the imaging soon.

I wouldn't ditch tomtom/navigon just yet.

iOS 6 beta 2 is extremely stable however. :-D.
Title: Re: iOS 4.*/5.*/6.*, please check for latest version discussion
Post by: DanDey on July 06, 2012, 06:43:42 am
Ben, if its not caching the maps then that could be quite the data hogger? I have had issues with O2 recently on how much data I am using and I am not a massive data user on the iphone outside of a wifi connection.

I am wondering how the new iPhone5 with it's rumoured new data cable and iOS6 will work with Blue&Me.

Sadly I won't be around at iPhone5 launch date (in the shops on 21 Sept?) but wondering if others on here are going to be in there on day one - both with regards to the phone but also iOS6 on the 4/4S?

Title: Re: iOS 4.*/5.*/6.*, please check for latest version discussion
Post by: Tha_Ben on September 11, 2012, 12:25:33 am
I will have one on day one.

Technically, if the rumours are true, i think the phone with a new cable should be fine, the Blue&me system will still see the phone as an iPhone and its still plugged in via the USB port.

Blue&me is apparently 'made for iPhone' and should follow apple standards of implementation..

iOS 6 is working flawlessly with B&M atm.

Apologies for the Google translation from French - but this casts uncertainty over the iPhone5 because of the Lightning connection. Any thoughts from our guru  :)

"IS THE IPHONE5 COMPATIBLE WITH BLUE&ME

Nobody could miss this information yesterday, the firm at the apple has introduced its latest iPhone ... but is it compatible with the Blue & Me which equips our cars?

The question is asked and does not seem to have found certain answer to this day. Even if the iPhone is always supplied with a USB cable, the problem comes from the new connector "Lightning", which in addition to being much more compact (8 pin instead of 30) and faster data format that will be channeled exclusively digital. The old connector allow both transfer datas digital but also analog.

According to the website CNET, the adapter pin 30 / Lightning € 29 will be sold by Apple is expected to operate. Moreover, it is not guaranteed that any other adapter not apple engraved with the works and provides digital / analog conversion.

Is that Fiat will provide an update of its Blue & Me system to allow to accept the reading of digital information?

Otherwise lucky future owners of the iPhone 5 that have not yet famous 30 pins adapter / Lightning can still listen to music through personal auxiliary input jack 3.5 available on the latest Blue & Me"
Title: Re: iOS 4.*/5.*/6.*, please check for latest version discussion
Post by: simer on September 13, 2012, 06:57:03 pm
A bit more from Autoblog:

"The new 8-pin connector is fully digital, and is not able to transmit analog signals. Kia. Hyundai and older BMW models feature a connector that sends both USB and eighth-inch analog signals through the 30-pin connector. It appears Apple's adaptor will not work with the connectors provided by these vehicles."

Again no mention of Blue&Me

Post by: Tha_Ben on September 13, 2012, 10:12:07 pm
Yeah ive been reading a little bit about this.. I would really like to find more info out about blue&me, my sources at Microsoft cant uncover anything extra to what I already know though... grrr.

I will be VERY surprised if the iPhone 5 works with blue&me, which really does suck, as thats music, sat-nav etc out for me!

I suppose I'm quite fortunate in the fact that I also have an iPhone 4S that will continue to be my music/sat-nav device.

Ben.

PS. iOS 6 Gold Master for iPhone 4S is working 100%.

http://www.whathifi.com/news/iphone-5-and-ipods-wont-work-with-some-existing-kit-–-even-with-the-adapter

Apple are now however saying the converter has a DAC built in, that means it *might* work... trial and error i guess.
Title: Re: iOS 4.*/5.*/6.*, please check for latest version discussion
Post by: Tha_Ben on September 13, 2012, 10:31:30 pm
Oh, another thing, im 99.9% sure the blue&me system is using the analogue pin-outs on the old 30pin dock.

Why? Well, the fact that the Blue&me system can play iTunes DRM files is a pretty big give away, the iDevice will be doing the decryption of the files and sending them down to the blue&me system as L&R, the forward/back/display info will be digital.

Fail on apples behalf? I think so.. will someone come up with a fix? probably, this is going to effect ALOT of devices..

I'll see if I can get hold of some of my contacts at Apple in the next few days, see if they have any ideas.

iTunes update (the one displayed at the keynote) is not out till October - its not even on the dev portal.

iOS 6 will be released next week (19th).

Problem with the connector is that the systems (not just Blue&me) have been built using iDevice audio out using the analogue pin-outs on the connector, this isnt possible with the 'lightning' connector, its digital only.

The 30 pin to lightning connector may include a analogue to digital converter in the hardware (ADC), however i think £30 for an ADC and that small is maybe a little optimistic... hopefully things will work still tho...

I doubt original blue&me will see updates from Fiat/Abarth.. but would love to be proven wrong.

Title: Re: iOS 4.*/5.*/6.*, please check for latest version discussion

Yesh, tho, all that the dongle does is convert the audio into a digital stream and pass it to the Blue&me system.

If the device converted analogue to digital maybe all the old cars will work and the newer ones won't, we all know how perverse systems can be at times  ;D

No - as the audio will travel down the cable via analogue into the end USB port, the Blue&me adapter will then convert analogue to digital and into the Blue&me system.

Its a bit of a complicated system.

I'm presuming that if you needed a B&M dongle before you will still need to use one?

B&M has been playing up on my iPhone 5 iOS 6.1.

The problem is that the music element vanishes but the phone part carries on working.

The first time I sorted it by re-pairing the phone to the car. The fix lasted for a week or two.

This time re-pairing makes no difference and I also noticed that the "settings" option in B&M vanished completely for a while - it has since reappeared. I've invested in an Aux cable which at least gives me music but it's not ideal in terms of controlling playlists etc.

Any ideas what to do now or is this a common problem?

PS To top it all my passenger door mirror didn't heat up/defrost either this morning :(
