Think you need the scarily priced iPhone adaptor!

Doesn't matter that its all in MP3 on your iPod buddy, it can't read the file structure that is in an iPod and that is what the adapter also gets around

I ordered one from Sturgess yesterday and it arrived today. Not 100% sure whether I need to update the software on a brand new car but I've downloaded it and the instructions. Honest I used to be really techy but now all this stuff just makes my head hummmmmm

Sadly hubby stole my car this morning with some flimsy excuse so I don't get it back until he gets back from wrok.

When you try to install the new 5.4 version (tbh your car should have it) I belive it will give an error code 10 if it is already at the new version. Should be a case of just following the plug in instructions provided, and from what I've seen the order is crucial.

I bought the adaptor today. It has a few little quirks/inconsistencies. I need to start the track on the iphone before i plug in. Also when in shuffle mode, it played the same song over and over...I had to move it on manually, which I can imagine will get annoying. I need to read up on it a bit tho.
The best thing about the adaptor, apart from being able to play all my favourite tunes, is that it charges the phone, which is handy when using my satnav app - the battery was running down very quickly. I paid £53 + VAT for it.

As I had a brand new car I figured I probably had the updated software, plugged it in (the iPhone adaptor) and it worked. It started playing from the track that I was last listening to on my other car stereo, in shuffle mode.

SAF - there are media player settings under settings on the main meu where you can tell it to repeatedly play the same track so I suspect yours may be set to this. Have a look at the little blue and me guide and it tells you how to access the settings. I seem to remember I had this problem when I first used the USB socket on my stereo in the other car with my iPhone.

I've also bluetooth paired the phone and it seems to have all the phonebook - there was a moment of humour when I accidentally telephoned my husband and he then called me back. He was in the pub and I was on handsfree so not a constructive conversation. "I'M . . . IN. . . THE. . . .CAR".

I couldn't get it to do voice recognition - it didn't seem to be hearing me so I think I have a little more reading to do myself. Maybe my mike is turned down to far as my husband couldn't hear me well.

Thanks Paula...the repetition did drive me a bit crazy today...so off to bed with the little blue and me manual. My contacts updated without a problem and voice recognition seems to be ok, so far.
I'm realising that I need to catch up with technology...my 4yr old niece knows more about the iphone than I do :-[!

Can I ask where you bought your adapter from bud.

If anyones found it cheaper than SAF, please let me know.

Just been reading the above, and I'm a lil moody that I've got to buy this fudging adaptor >:(

As we sell the adaptor through the shop we will obviously protect our revenue stream, i.e no links allowed  ;D

Worth noting we do sell it for less than the RRP only £3 (once you add vat) more than SAFs price and you help the forum at the same time  :thumb:

Not as easy on the eye as the Scorpion USB stick though.

True, I will say I thought the usb was a bit of a rip off due to the storage but it actually is a quality item being metal and all. Anyways that's my wrist slapped for going off topic  :-X
