Title: some songs don't work

Hi, Apologies if i've missed where this has been answered before. I use itunes and an ipod but i've transfered music over to media player and as far as i can tell they're now MP3's and on a sony 4GB memory stick. Most of them play fine including some 'downloads' but about a 1/3 don't want to play, even the ripped from genuine CD's ones. The title comes up as a number then the title, it just won't play. Any ideas? Also if i buy through itunes now it's DRM free will those songs work or should i stick to amazon? Alex
