Different Settings
« on: September 06, 2017, 06:14:59 pm »
This is really for the bluespark guys on the forum, as I know it gets asked a lot, more so on the facebook groups etc but it would be good to know what settings you recommend.

For example, setting C on a standard car. But setting D for cars with an exhaust and filter perhaps? I'm not saying that is the correct theory, but I've seen it asked a few times and people's replies vary so much.

The paperwork with the boxes states that it's probably best to leave it on setting C, but at what point is D and E recommended?

Thanks.

    Hi there,
It very much depends what spec your car is and what revision of the firmware is on your box. If you can tell me your order details I can look it up for you and give you some advice?
    Best regards,

I've got a stock 66 plate 145 Abarth 595, which dyno'd at 148hp a few months ago. I've got a Bluespark fitted and I've had it on C for a few weeks and I immediately felt the extra power. Got it dyno'd again today and got 153hp - after discussing on Facebook with others I'm confident it will be an even better read out on D or E. So I took it out for a spin in D and felt the pull yet again - upped to E and it really does go!

I too thought that D and E were for cars with upgraded exhausts, intakes etc but it seems to run really well in both D and E!

So I would say, start off in C, then after a few weeks, notch it up to D or E? Smiles per mile guaranteed!

I was the one that said up it to setting E on facebook bud  ;)

When I wrote the post above, I didn't mean it to sound like a question from me. I meant it so that the guys at Bluespark could explain what settings work best with different mods, as it gets asked a lot and would be a good reference point. I've had two boxes and both work best on setting E with no issues.

Glad yours is working well now Simon  :thumb:

For reference, I had my Esseesse dyno tested at the weekend after having a new clutch fitted a couple of weeks back.

Box was on Setting E. Car has done 72k miles with the original turbo.

Supporting mods are a bmc panel filter (standard Esseesse part) and a Milltek full stainless resonated system and BP Ultimate fuel.

    Results were impressive!  8)

I'm more interested in the torque number than the HP.
Do any of the settings focus more towards that ?

Yes, D and E are higher torque than C.

16-Reg Tourismo and Fitted BS-box this past week - only a selection of profanities and scratches getting to the boost plug under the battery...
Setting C was OK, but still wouldn't want to drive round outside of Sport

Then today, had a Monza fitted I picked up out of the classifieds, that I wired the valve open with the original spring.  That made a bigger difference even on C. as well as the better noise.

Have upped to D to see the change and yes there is something - but was getting dark.....will try E tomorrow !

    Generally, much happier !!!

Yes I did - & have left it on E.
Car runs absolutely fine on both settings - and you don't feel woefully short-changed on the non-Sport any more.

Interesting to compare with my son, who had his 160hp Comp re-mapped at Pro-Alfa.  I think there is a bigger difference between the 2-settings with the Bluespark box.

For the discount price from here, I'm very happy with the results.
