Abarth Simca 1300 GT
« on: November 10, 2021, 08:27:53 pm »
Long shot I know, but does anyone have production figures for the Abarth Simca 1300 GT, 1962 (launched '61) please?

Thanks in anticipation.

Very understandable MJ! There are few nicer GTs from the era and you've got to love its dinkiness/lightweight, especially in this age of ever bloating automotive bulk!

Thanks OneTwoFour for the suggestion - I'm also now trying to get to grips with the muddled subject of the various body iterations, so I'm grateful for your suggestion and will contact Guy, someone I'd lost my reference for.

Just to conclude this, in my research so far, the highest chassis number I found with the 130 prefix is #0128.

Meanwhile, I've been able to contact a few people with excellent knowledge and expertise in regard to the Abarth GTs of the late fifties/early sixties and I'll post a write-up on the Abarth-Simca 1300 shortly.

My first real experience of Abarth cars was at Radbournes shortly before they lost the import concession, but, though that was long ago now, the Corso Marche coupes of that era still seem to me amongst the very nicest cars ever to turn a wheel!

    Nice writeup  :thumb:

Looks like I won't be finding one of these under the xmas tree this year though, £230k for a cheap one is about 229.95k above how much my other half is willing to spend on me for xmas :D

Aw, sorry MJ.  Can't you get on her right side with a nice bottle of Prada Infusion d’Iris fragrance? And maybe you could try logic and rationale at the same time - after all, if she can't approve a purchase now, a 1300 GT will be twice today's price in a year or two when more people have woken up to the utterly delectable nature of the model!

Thanks for the thumbs-up, and Best Wishes for Christmas and 2022.

    Regards.

    David  :) :) :)

Sadly my other half has lots of experience debunking my 'man math' so she might not believe me when I say we'd be saving £230k by buying it now  ;D

Merry xmas to you too, and a happy Abarth-filled new year  :thumb:
