Lucky me. Classic car auction in Austin, Texas
« on: December 04, 2013, 09:46:04 pm »
Well,
By some fluke I managed to 'blag' my way into the Motostalgia Grand Prix auction in Austin Texas last month.
Guess what the star car was???

An Abarth...but a special one....it was actually THE 1950 Cisitalia-Abarth 204A Spyder Sport which was driven by Tazio Nuvolari in the 1950's.

An 1100cc OHC 4 cylinder, 4 speed car producing 80hp....seems nothing by todays standards...but this was over 60 years ago.
She is a beautiful car.

I have a copy of the catalogue with a full description inside of race victories etc etc. I could scan it and post it here if anyone would like to see it. Let me know!  :thumb:

Guide price.....well I'll leave that for you to guess....Put it this way, I'd swap my car for it....oh, and my house!!!

Enjoy

I'm abroad again so am not near the catalogue right now.
I suppose that when you think that my 2litre Lancia Beta Montecarlo had 119bhp and that seemed a lot back then and that was in 1990!

I believe the car sold for US $3.5million. Now I'd happily change my car and house for that, (but I'd never move over to the USA).

I'll scan the pages from the catalogue when I'm back home and put them on the forum.

    Historic Thread maybe???

Sorry for the quality, I had to scan them at work and I ran out of time.
